Take the panel
And throw some rocks at it. Nothing could go wrong, right?

Obviously it's a friendly giant robot.
Examine the panel, actually.

You back off as quietly as possible, not taking your eyes off of the massive, still form of.. Whatever that is. You almost trip over the small hunk of metal left abandoned on the floor.

You give it a closer look.

You thought it was some kind of control panel that had fallen from the wall, judging by how flat it is, but it looks more like some kind of handheld computer, not that you've ever seen one before. There are three different colored buttons on the face and a small monochromatic display covered by solid glass (or something like it).

You flip it over, and find two small compartments which you can prize open with your fingers.

Inside one is a small, distinctive connector. Within the other is a bank of 8 jacks. There are three removable plugs inserted into the jacks, on the end of each is a colored contact: one red, one blue, and one yellow. You've a mind to try connecting some of those wires to the contacts, if you could find a safe way to do that without electrocuting yourself.

Take the handheld computer, and go left.

As you approach the darkened tunnel you're surprised to see a light flickering in the distance! Perhaps because of this you notice how abruptly the hallways ends. The dirt turns to some kind of hard, featureless plastic bulkhead. To you it's as if someone took two oddly shaped puzzle pieces and forced them together.

The hallway ahead emits an alien atmosphere that repels you. You can't help but hesitate to go in there.. You can see a rough metal door doorway surrounded by a striped red railing, and beside the door can be seen some kind of wall box. Perhaps inside are the controls for the door.

Approach the Wall Box and inspect it closer. Open if possible.

...Hmm...

Hold breath before approaching.

You approach the box, a mounted case made of thin metal. The exterior facing is smooth and featureless so you feel around the edge until you find a hold. You give it a good tug.

There's a pop and the hinges squeak as you ease the facing open.

There's a stripe painted panel behind it. You see some small lettering which you struggle to make out in the dim, flickering light cast by the lamp above the nearby door. You're not sure what it means. Below that is a small male plug attached to the wall. It looks familiar.
