"Well, on the one hand, it's not dissolving the wood, so it's probably not a fungus or anything. On the other hand, I'm fairly sure it's not water and don't want to step in it. Maybe if I had some good boots...I'm gonna hate myself for this, aren't I?"

This time, after inspecting what he could of the room for anything loose he might be able to use, he lets the skin on the back of his right pinkie graze the 'water', and tries to avoid flailing in sudden pain should such occur.

It just feels wet, and a bit cold.

"Huh. False flag? Something else that'll get me? Electricity maybe? That would suck. Or maybe tiny death-fish."

Rolep looks around for doors in the room, and for anything he might have noticed on his first sweep.

Rolep looks around for doors in the room, and for anything he might have noticed on his first sweep.
As he trudges into the room through the green water, Rolepgeek notices a door off to the right (West). Beginning a second sweep, the first thing he notices is something sort of shiny barely visible under the water, like a plastic bag or beached jellyfish.

If he can reach it with his sword, he pokes it.

If he can reach it with his sword, he pokes it.
As he pokes it, the thing twitches, and rises from the water. It seems to be a sac of slightly different-colored green fluid, covered by very thin, shiny film, and floating inside is some small, purplish mass of flesh, from which branches out a web of tendrils (veins? nerves?) that mostly occupies the bottom part of the sac.

"Ah. A slime. I was wondering if one would show up. That's...not good."

Rolepgeek tries to wait and see what it does. Odds are, it'll try and launch itself at him. He plans to let it impale itself on his sword if it does. And since it'll probably start eating his sword if he doesn't kill it with that, he'll fling it away again. Maybe try to cut it in half. That will either kill it or make two of them, he's fairly sure. But...there's not much choice, is there?

The slime starts crawling alongside the wall, making little ripples in the green liquid.

Rolep takes a cautious step into the liquid, watching to see what the slime does. And also hopefully to see if there are other slimes...

(You'd have to have stepped in a little bit to see the other door)
(Zanz, can we get another update soon?)
As Rolepgeek trudges through the liquid, the slime seems to ignore him, continuing its crawl alongside the wall. He spots what could be another one lying under the surface near the center of the room, but it's somewhat hard to tell. He notices that the square pillars in the cellar-like room block line of sight, preventing taking in the whole room at a glance from one spot.

Rolepgeek tries to stay on his guard as he moves to the door. It was probably locked, but it was worth a try.

The door seems to lack a handle. As he approaches it, he notices what could be another slime under the water. Indeed, it surfaces, confirming it: it's smaller than the other two he notices, about the size of a grapefruit.

"How many are there..."

Rolep tries to do a circuit of the room, looking for other doors and slimes.

As he begins his circuit of the room, Rolepgeek notices what must be a chest in the northeastern corner of the room. It sits with its lid a few inches above the surface of the liquid, with no apparent lock. It seems to be made of some polished, vaguely yellowish white material, like ivory, with bands of iron reinforcing it.

Rolep stands as far from it as possible, and pokes it with his sword.

If it does nothing, he tries to get the lid open. Again with his sword.

Fucking mimics.
