HugoLuman picked his way through the field of small cats on the floor to the corner, (16) where sure enough he found the pile of the stereotypical goon clothes. And, equally stereotypically, there was a cat curled up on the pile. Can I get something from that pile there?

I suppose you're right. But you could stand to tone it down a bit.
HugoLuman finishes tying his shoes and stands up. He looks at the others petting cats and thinks of his own cats back home, wondering what they'd say if he could talk to them. Then he remembered the magnificent idiot who had recently passed, and tried to put it out of his mind. "So... game plan. Shall we continue into the city? Or, I'd understand if you just want to stay here a while and pet cats."
