Kyle takes off the helmet to reveal the eyepatch under it. He shrugs and tries that same tactic since it worked well last time.

[1] [3-4] Grunting, the swordsman swings again, only to be met by a parry on Kyle's end. [3] [1-4] Eventually, the parry slips into the master's favor as Kyle is unable to find an opening to counter with, leading to the tube pressing against his chest. [3] [8-4] A second bout has the two locking blades again, [7] [20-4] Kyle this time deciding to use his sword to chop the master's tube, leaving him somewhat surprised at the unorthodox tactic. [10] [19-4] The ninja now uses the length advantage of his blade to score a jab into the blademaster's arm, even though it is too dull at this point to actually pierce his thick skin.

The master glanced at the young man, his curious smirk not evident under the box that masked his face. "You are thinking pragmatically. Such a skill will lend itself well towards your survival."

"Sounds like a good idea to me. What's the town like?"

"Well yeah. That's the who thing about ninja. If conditions were right I would have had some nasty tricks up my sleeve. That said, we weren't trying to kill each other."
Kyle puts his helmet back on.

"Hmmmth. Yet as I say before, merely bloodying your foe does not equate to a victory. Know your foe's means, and your means as well." The bladesman lifted another cardboard tube from the side, kicking away its broken predecessor to the end of the room, before turning to meet Zanzetkucken. "If it is the basics you wish to learn, then the most basic of things there is to learn is stance and posture. Such remains a truth whether the swordsman is a vehicle for his blade, or a peasant seeking to use it as a tool. How you swing the blade is secondary." He beckoned the assassin to draw her blade.

(That's why I had said, 'closest to'.  Yours is the nearest to fighter, KJ's is nearest to mage, and that leaves me with rogue itself.)

Zanzetkuken removes her rifles, and slides them off to the side before drawing her blade, and getting into a defensive position, waiting for him to make the first move.  (Don't forget the +2 bonus to strikes I have, as well as the +2 to agility, if an agility roll is made.)

"Nice, I guess. Well, it seems safe compared to other places we've been. The people there seem kinda sad and bit desperate, though. I guess I would be too if I was in here long enough to build a town."

"It's so weird. People just get so depressed when they're stuck somewhere that death is constant, probably inevitable, and it's also most likely inescapable, unless you manage to defeat someone practically impossible to summon."

"Well, it's also inescapable back home. Though there you only have to do it once, and usually get decades before it happens. Anyway, shall we go?" He goes over and stands by the passage.

HugoLuman crawled out through the tunnel, stepping out of the bathroom and back into the Oni room. "Probably not the best thing to mention right after eating breakfast, but I'm thinking we should remove all these bodies at some point. If decomposition is a thing here, and we have to keep coming back here, they're going to make it quite horrible."
