Hi there,

I got a small problem here (I know losing is fun)... I let my to mining dwarves carve a several tiles wide channel into the main entrance floor to protect my fortress against attacks. But now the two miners that dug out the channel are surrounded by water one level below the ground of the main entrance (the ground level of the channel). Although they don't drown they unfortunately got stuck there. How can I get them out of this awkward situation?

edit - odd detail: they have water above their heads...

I'm not sure if I fully understand your exact situation, but if your other dwarves can get to the channel from the other side you should be able to build a floor or bridge over the channel you mined out until the miners are back to safety, then remove the bridge.

Could they not dig two Z levels down, over to an area where water wasn't overhead, and then staircases up?

They might get unhappy/hungry/thirsty and stop, but I guess its too late to try it.

It is indeed... not that bad. I just started this now abandoned fortress.
