Lethithelire Abeco Athama: An Elven Fortress
« on: September 07, 2014, 03:46:11 am »

. . . doesn't mean the wildlife is at peace with you.
Alright, I've deemed my elf mode mod playable since most industries are implemented and it is relatively bug-free. So, naturally, I want to showcase it with a new community game. I haven't chosen any specifics yet, or even genned a world for it, since I'll have our starting seven (including myself) choose our embark. I'll gen the world with 10k embark points and we can decide how many to spend from there. (I'm bringing ****loads of gauntlets due to a currently-unsquishable bug.) Without further ado, let's start signups! Just tell me what you want your elf to end up as and their name/title and I'll slap you onto the player list. Also, lemme know what kind of embark you're up for. I think a joyous wilds area adjacent to a terrifying area would be neat. Undead unicorns, anyone?

EDIT: Feel free to vote even if you're not playing, btw.
Player List:
-King Murdoc
-than402 (Carpenter)
-panstach (Bowelf)
-Grim Portent (Swordself)
-
-Timeless Bob (Heartsinger/Farmer)
-Romegypt (same combo as Timeless Bob because we need that)

People waiting to be elfed
-Quartz_Mace (Bowelf)
-Shadow of Fate (Spearelf)

Here's a quick rundown on the mod:
-You build heartwood shrines that generate wood with the Woodcutting labor. These need hearts, which are made from 10 logs at one of these shrines.
-Instead of forging weapons and armor, you shape them from logs at the relevant shaper's shrine.
-You can grow seeds at no cost other than labor and the log it took to build the shrine.
-Wood can be infused with various metals once you trade for a pick and do some mining.
-Stockpile micromanagement is superlatively important compared to Dwarf Mode. All of your usable raw materials are logs, so it's entirely possible to waste ores by infusing the same logs over and over. You also need this to get weapons and armor made of a specific material.
-like seriously don't trade your crafts to the retreat or they will get upset.
-WAR UNICORNS.

Elf me as a paranoid dwarf-hating marksman, preferably with as many exotic war beasts as possible, thanks!

I would like to be elfed as an aspiring swordself. Unless we have access to swords, in which case I'd rather be a swordself than a waiting-to-be-swordself.

I'd like a stereotypical Legolas please. A sharpshooter military Elf, leader of his squad if possible.

Please elf me as a tree-shaper (woodcrafter), a farmer and a musician.  I shall use my drums and singing to encourage the trees to grow whatever crafts we need for the delight of the senses and shall do the same for edibles.  I will NOT take up the bow or the sword, for I shall live in harmony with all nature.  My name shall be Tom-Bombadil.  Eventually, I hope to take a mate born after embark who is a fisher-elf named "Golden-moon", for she shall be the daughter of the river and we shall sleep in a tree grown for two.

(Incidentally, lets embark next to a brook or stream, please)

I think this fort is getting a LOTR-esque name.

I can send you the world map for "middle earth" if you like - we can embark in the Mirkwood.

Heck, you might be able to just incorporate it into Deon's Middle Earth Mod

I'm actually genning a world right now. Upped the minimum good/evil square counts, and biased the world toward areas of high savagery. Going for a shorter history so that the goblin apocalypse is less likely to happen.

I do also love Middle Earth, but the Ea mod is by Deon! :)

I'll go for this. I don't normally like mods, but this sounds interesting!
Add me to the list.

A Joyous/Untamed large island
Mirthful marsh adjacent to Haunted mountains
Mirthful tundra adjacent to freezing mountains w/volcano
A random volcano slapped down into the middle of a forest
The same thing in a swamp
Mirthful sand desert with a volcano

Savage taiga next to Terrifying glacier
Island volcano next to Joyous ocean
Haunted tundra volcano
Terrifying tropical marsh adjacent to a Dark Fortress
Scorching, terrifying savannah
Terrifying marsh next to Joyous savannah
There are also lots of lairs we could embark over.
