Neptune's Pride 2 is a free, browser-based multiplayer 4X. Games typically last somewhere between a few weeks and a few months.

So, we're looking for people who are interested and willing to commit to playing. I'm going to cover the cost of a premium account (in order to create the match and any future ones) as long as we have at least 6 people willing to play, though matches can support up to 32 players, so there's not much of an upper cap.

I figured that this would be a more effective way of checking up on it than asking for more PMs in the two-page thread in OG. Once we get six people, I'll set things up as soon as we go ~1-2 days without anyone else joining, or once we hit a pretty good-sized number. If it gets to be around a week from now and it's still just four of us, I'll start with that.

I'm also looking for opinions for a couple things, including the map (I'll post screenshots when we get closer) and whether or not we should have the ability to make/break game-enforced alliances rather than purely trust-based ones.

well since tha game seems to be really slow usually and one can make apparently turn-based rounds which go potentially faster...why not do a turn based round?

Just speaking from experience, turn-based moves much, much slower, especially in a format like this where we're likely to have people from a very wide range of timezones. Granted, you set a max time to wait for people to submit their turns, but then that ends up being effectively identical to realtime, except that you can't directly monitor your progress whenever you happen to have a few minutes to check the game.

The reason games take a while to finish is in part because things are designed to not happen instantly, and the nature of combat tends to naturally balance things, so it takes a long time for anyone to build a decisive advantage over the rest of the players.

Okay, here's the game:

Yo. Link.

It's simple, just enter the password, pick a race (they're purely fluff), enter your handle for the game, and pick a starting color. The galaxy is random position but supposedly equal distribution of resources, and the starting positions are in a circle.

The password is simple, five letters, and should be completely familiar to anyone who has played dwarf fortress.

Oh, and as an aside: You can go ahead and spend your starting money and set deployment orders for your carriers. Nothing will process until everyone is in.

Also also, as a premium member I can run as many games as I choose, so if more people show up I can always start a second one too, because everyone can play in as many as they like.

It doesn't matter much, given that we can have as many games going at once as we want. If he shows up tomorrow and wants in, I can just set up another one and we can play two; it's not like they're a tremendous time investment.

Yeah, I'll start a second game, because that was pretty unfair to you.

Same password as before. 7 slots.. If someone else shows up and wants in, ask, and I'll set up a larger lobby.  ;)

First one has everyone in and has begun, game on gentlebeings.
