Despite the combined efforts of Mikal and Ammon, Thornton does not budge on his price.

Thornton looks at Oak.

Son, if you don't want to be paid, that is fine by me. If you are truly not doing this for the money, then you do not need 20 silver a head.

In response to Mikal, he says

They are situated in a cave, just beyond a day away. Any closer, and I would have had the guard take care of it...as it is, they are loathe to leave the safety of their walls, even to protect honest business men.

Snag takes no notice of the argument, even when he is mentioned.

Ammon nods regardless.

"Tell us how to get there and we'll go."

Fine I will take the 95 gold pieces. I would do it for free but I need to restock my coin purse. I am ready to go.

Thornton hands Ammon a map with the location marked on it.

I suggest you get started before the day wears much further towards night.

The party now has two options. Commence with their mission, or explore Winterhaven.

Ammon pockets the map and nods.

"Head out now?" he asks the others

Ammon opens the map and leads Snag and the others to the gates closest to the marker, then leads the others to the spot marked.

The party travel through the gate and onto the road, and from there to Thornton's land. You pass through this, and the sun disappears. The stars come out.

Eventually, you come to a small cliff with a hole delving straight into it. There are other such fissures dotted about the cliff's face, but this is the largest. Across the entrance is a brick wall, hastily and badly made, with a small entrance at the top for the kobolds to scramble over, but also keeping out beasts and cold wind. You hear faint sounds like calm and measured breathing from the other side of the wall.

Sneak as close as I can to the wall, telling the other guys to stay back while I scout with my imp. Use the cover of night to my advantage.

Ammon creeps up to the hole without event. Looking over, he sees a Kobold lying as guard, but fast asleep. At its side you see some javelins close to hand. There is a faint light from a torch further in. He drops back down on the outside side of the wall, as going any further in may alert the guard.
