You gods are the remnants of a dead universe, you were the last ones to survive as your reality collapsed around you. In the last moments, as your bodies were seconds away from death, a new power began to flow through you. Your apotheosis was both painful and enlightening, and it has brought you to this formless void to begin your new works. As the new gods, you must define yourselves, and in doing so, define the world around you.
Unfortunately, you are not omnipotent. Though you have great power, more than your mortal forms ever did, you could never hope to remake the universe alone. So you must together, blend your talents to create a plane of existence to call home.
To do this you have 150 points to spend on five stats.
Name:
Creation: Your ability to create. It will take 150 points in creation to create a plane that can sustain life. 100 in creation allows for significant additions to terrain development after the plane has stabilized.
Soul: Life you create requires a soul to be able to recognize you. A full humanoid soul requires 100 points.
Magic: The power to give your creations a little of your power in the world. While some may be able to defend themselves naturally, don’t you want to give your creations that little bit of an edge.
Destruction: The power of the eternal darkness at the end of the universe. Without points in destruction, you put yourself at risk of you yourself being destroyed. Also used in the destruction or damaging of planes. Destruction must equal or surpass the Creation score of the target plane. Additionally, destruction allows for the large scale removal of landscape features at 100.
Presence: Your capacity to directly affect the planes of existence you create. 50 points in presence are required to directly interact with this new reality you create. Giving orders to your worshippers is most appreciated.
Naturally, pantheons will be formed, and there is a potential for various players to be on multiple or even all pantheons. Decisions will need to be made and democracy will most likely be the most common option, however, if other styles are decided, there will be bonuses given to the various "heads."
Gameplay: To continue to survive, you will unfortunately require the lives of creatures that you create. As you are, you are little better than elemental beasts. Your life is in your hands to recreate. Life is defined as microbial, floral, bestial, sentient, transcendent and godly.
Microbial life has a soul value of less than 10 and is at the very least required for the formation of other life. Floral life has a soul value of 29 or less and can exist without any life apart from primordial. Bestial life requires a soul value of between 30 and 99. It cannot exist without floral life, and preys on Sentient life. Sentient life requires a soul value of 100 and requires both bestial and floral life to exist this is the only stage that provides the Population statistic that is required. Transcendent life is a single entity selected from a population of sentient entities. They must possess a soul value of at least 200 and perform the difficult task of slaying a godly avatar. Godly is you, no life on the plane will ever reach your level of power.
Population is a statistic that determines a god's growth. Growth is determined at the end of an age and is a bonus number of allocable points equal to .00001% of your population
Name: The name of the species
Soul Type: Primordial, Floral, Bestial, Sentient or Transcendent (Flora and primordial cannot have any stats apart from magic)
Strength: How much power the creature can generally put behind its attacks, also a determining factor in the creature’s mass.
Speed: How fast a creature is, or how quickly and accurately it can perform a task.
Intelligence: How smart a creature is. In sentient life, determines the value of created crafts.
Birthrate: How rapidly the creature creates offspring.
Magic: Ususally only available in favored life, that is, creatures that a god selects to be more interesting than the rest. It is a total of 1/10th of the magic that a god who shows interest in it possesses. If the gods who create the species desire it, they can give the entire species 1/20th of their magic stat.
These stats max at 10 except in the instances of favored and transcendent life. Each species has 15 points to spend.
Sometimes, a little spat between gods or pantheons occurs, if it does, one of two events occurs. One pantheon can select an adventurer/ adventuring party or there is a war.
An adventuring party goes to hunt down the rival god's avatar on the plane, which must exist or the rival god immediately loses. The penalty for loss is either a single request by the victorious god(s) or, if the opponent refuses, the lose is forced to cede 50% of their total power to the victor for the remainder of the age. If a god's avatar is defeated twice in a row, the third time that an adventuring party hunts their avatar, the god itself must physically manifest. If they can not acquire at least 100 presence, they are limited to 100-presencex100% of their destruction stat for combat. If the god manifest loses, they are killed.
A god can have 1 favored adventurer and 1 avatar. An adventurer is favored and goes on a two stage adventure to defeat the enemy avatar. First they must acquire a legendary weapon, placed by the rival, and then they go to kill the avatar. An avatar is selected from life that was either created by the god in question or is from their worshipper base. An avatar has 3X the stats of a standard creature of the type selected. If a plant or microbial form is selected as an avatar, the selecting god must make the final challenge a low stakes physical manifestation, same presence rules, or surrender. This will be explained further when the need arises. After the adventurer's first challenge, they are given a random amount of soul, between 0 and 100 if this puts them above 200 when they defeat the avatar, they transcend and provide their controlling god with 10 points to spend on their own stats.
A war is combat between the populaces of the two rival gods. The goal being to cause the other god to surrender before their worshipper base is completely destroyed. The surrendering side must cede some portion of their worshipper base to the victor, if this amount is not sufficient, the victorious side may forego accepting the worshippers and continue to attack. Alternative results are allowed.
War is done by PM messages to the GM in a sort of Rock Paper Scissors Format.
Fortress: Hole your people up in the strongest walls you have. vs fortress lose nothing, vs infantry lose 1% of your population, vs siege lose 15% of your population.
Infantry: Prepare your armies for battle. vs fortress lose 10% of your population, vs infantry lose 5% of your population, vs siege lose 1% of your population
Siege: Tear down that wall. vs fortress lose 1% of your population, vs infantry lose 10% of your population, vs siege lose 5% of your population.
Whew, this was my rough plan for an intensive cooperative/combative god game. I have no idea how many people it will take for this to work, but I am hoping for at least 8. Questions, comments concerns? All manners of contact are allowed between players for this, know that plotting can and will go on behind each others backs. I'm looking forward to the stories you tell.
