How can you equip heroes, captains, dungeon masters, etc with other weapons?

Normal dorfs require micromanaging to change items into better quality ones,
can nobles pick better armours/weapons themselves?

How to change the armourlevel/weapontype of these guys?

My champions are running around in copper attire while there is ironware available. [in bins]

Also I'd love to see my DM carrying around that steel whip I got for him,
but whips're probably Adv-mode only.

Whips are adventure mode only.  Dwarves can wield hammers, maces, swords, axes, spears, and crossbows.  That's it.

As for your champions, they get really annoying at that level.  I'm assuming that it is impossible to get them to drop the useless stuff they're wearing and suit up in better equipment.  I guess they just get attached to their stuff.

You can change a champion's weapon and armor preferences in the 'm'ilitary screen.

Also, if you go to the stocks screen, I think you can designate all your inferior weapons and armor for melting or dumping.

I just discovered the stock screen's uses, its great.
