Dogs and pens
« on: August 30, 2014, 01:14:34 pm »

Hi all!

I just noticed the following behavior:

  • I have a dog assigned to the pen
  • I trained this dog to the war animal
  • I leashed this dog to the rope

After this, dwarves sometimes unleash this dog and pasture the dog to the pen it was previously assigned. After some time, dwarves leash this dog back.

Is it ok? If yes, how can I avoid such behavior? Otherwise, was this bug submitted already?

Thanks in advance.

It is possible for a chained animal to still be assigned to a pasture, even after being assigned a chain. Both states persist, and will result in exactly this behavior. If the dog isn't still assigned to the pasture, just delete the zone and reassign any other animals that might be assigned to it. That should clear the problem up.

An easy workaround for this is to put a 3x3 pasture with your restraint at the center of it and assign the dog you want to the pasture. Then once it's there, assign it to the restraint.
