I shall wait.

And Remuthra, my apologies. I understand now. Thanks for the info.

No problem :P.

Shouldn't I have a bowie machete, as well?

I'll tack that on. I never compiled everyone's weapon requests in one place, so I'm asking now.

EARTH ORBIT

The troop bay radio crackles, and the pilot starts addressing you.

"We're about to engage the drive! You should feel some acceleration, but that's normal!  Strap in and get ready!"

Just as you finish strapping in, the drive triggers and you are smashed flat back into your seat. Honestly, though, after the initial acceleration it isn't that bad - somewhat like driving in a very, very fast car. After a somewhat boring, albeit short, trip, the craft decelerates just as fast as it accelerated and you realize that you're at the asteroid belt.

Time for a vote: attack the alien craft head-on, or hide behind an asteroid and ambush?

"I'm thinking an ambush. The only problem would be them having sensors so they can catch us off guard."

"Always better to strike hard and fast when your enemy doesn't expect it. Would be nice if we could surprise them, and sneak aboard."

Suddenly, Joe's eyes brighten.

"Say, we don't still have that drive aboard, do we?"

"Yeah, the drive's still onboard. Not a one-and-done thing. What did you have in mind?" the pilot asks over the intercom.

The pilot chuckles. "That might work, but we'd run the risk of completely destroying the enemy ship. We're still not quite sure exactly how much energy bleeds off forward of the craft into the energy cone. Let's table that one for now."
