compared to what came before, yes it absolutely has
It's actually hard to say. Until 1914 there were no wars comparable to Vietnam or, arguably, even to Korea. While the wars of 1914-1950 were horrible, it can be argued that they were also seasonal and even without nuclear weapons nothing of that sort could happen for another 50 years- no one would want to risk it (let's not forget that aside from nukes we have such 'conventional' tactics as unrestricted submarine warfare (which eliminates maritime trade in entire regions), carpet bombing (which will level a city as well as any nuke, if a little slower) and large scale guerrilla support).

I tried to play chess but two of my opponents were playing competitive checkers as a third person walked in with Game of Thrones in hand confused cause they thought this was the book club.

Now it's still guerrilla warfare and carpet bombing was replaced by large guided missiles and guided bombs with a 50%+ target strike fail rate. Civil wars and regime change has not changed at all.

Can we discuss games that realistically portray nuclear war instead of this?
Its gone quite off-topic, I wanted to find some cool games to play.
