His book already open, Lucian quickly refers to the proper section and whips a glowing bolt at the furious plainsman who appears in the entrance way.

It strikes him dead in the chest, exploding his body armor and underclothes in a brilliant flash, and he reels backwards, screaming in pain and surprise and slapping at his smoking flesh.
Cedomir brings his sword around with a growl.

The massive weapon, it's edge so thick it's more hammer than blade, crashes through the mercenary's guard and into his unprotected side, slamming him against the wall with a sickening crunch. Loose bricks tumble from the ruined wall as Cedomir withdraws his blunt blade and back-steps, preparing to swing again. The poor rogue wheezes and steps out of the man-shaped hole in the wall. He clutches at his torso, the bruises already turning black. Blood trickles from between his lips as he swipes fruitlessly at Cedomir, who easily ducks his weakly delivered attacks.
Alessa silently drew her sword and braced it against her hip. Her cloak whipped behind her as she sprinted towards the tribeless rogue, hoping to take him unawares.

He turns at the last moment and instinctively raises his sword. The two fighters run one another through simultaneously, and half-accidentally. The mercenary blinks in surprise at the slim blade sticking through the chainmail covering his side, then at his own weapon stuck into the belly of the young woman before him.
Aalberg ran towards the combat, fire gripped in either hand, prepared to cast them both at the mercenary when Alessa withdrew.

Aalberg faltered when he saw the blade protruding from her abdomen. He let the spell die in his hands.

The mercenary grunted, laying all his effort into one final swing.

The merc cuts Cedomir a mean gash along his leg before he swings his huge sword again and dashes his brains out. The young swordsman puts a hand to the wound and winces, the cut running from his groin along the inside of his leg all the way down to his knee. He has no time to bleed however as another man appears
The sound of shouted alarms and clashing reach the ears of a lone warrior. He pauses for a moment, unsure, then jerks his blade from it's scabbard with a certain confidence.
I smell nobles-!Damage: 12
He puts his shoulder to the wall and it gives a little. Tyria can't help noticing a portion of the wall suddenly lurch outwards, threatening to topple.
Alessa withdraws her blade with a slithering rasp and suddenly the merc roars with anger, gripping his sword in both hands.
Hit: 102 - 18 = 92
Roll: 24, Hit!
Damage: 12 - 3 = 9
He clouts Alessa with the edge of his sword, splitting her head open. She drops instantly, knocked unconscious by the force of the blow.
The merc charges Shabi, closing before he can begin to nock an arrow.
Hit: 102 - 31 = 71
Roll: 68, Hit!
Crit: 13 - 4 = 9
Roll: 8
Damage: 12 - 3 = 9 * 3 = 27
He slams his blade through the young plainsman's chest and drives him to the ground. Shabi groans and tries to rise, but the merc leans on the hilt so as to pin him to the dirt. Shabi screams, terrified, and he works the fuller back and forth using the grip until his furtive struggling ceases.
