I would like to propose that instead of paying rent (and especially instead of not paying it), the eligible farmers be offered an option to provide the state with a reasonable (pre set) amount of beans or corn.

The exploitation of the people of countryside continues but wearing a new suit.

Why feed people instead of letting them feed themselves?  If the people of the city can't afford to buy corn then we should give them jobs making gravel roads in the countryside instead of taking food from the mouth of the farmers.

The times when a single Chimerica could buy you 2 pounds of corn are not those of our childhood, Eva, that was a common sight just a year ago. Now If you manage to get half a pound you wonder whether it's stolen or rotten. It is my duty to manage the agricultural department, get your grubby mitts of my work. I won't have you using your filthy ideology or emotions corrupting the future harvests of my plans. I, The Agricultural Minister, who has done extensive research, have given reasons WHY we should give our support to Campesinos who have shown the most promise in raising food for not only themselves others as well. If we want to feed everyone, which i tell you now is a impossibility, are best option are letting the Campesino's take control of the arable land. With time there crops will grow but while they are harvesting the new lands we should think of Supporting them with American Financial aid.

I hear "John Deer" tractors are very efficient in helping harvesting crops, although there expensive, the The American Government is willing to give some out at discounted prices. Prices which many could afford if we can twist the American's hands into giving us there support.

To complete our economy are roads. The Roman Empires lived so strongly because of them. Are people are dying because it takes the farmers so much time to get over hills and mountains that by the time they get there some of there harvest spoils. Not only does it cut into there personnel profits and interest in continuing on there profession but less food is in the market.

All of this will take time and won't be solved right away. i'll do what i can about the roads and American Aid later for now please refrain changing plans at the drop of a hat already.

Sorry to offend anyone i just don't like people stepping in on my duties. Makes me feel weak. As far as the military is concerned i trust the President to make those decisions although i'm worried...Military types don't negotiate without guns.

We are not taking from the farmers. In fact we are trying to GIVE more land to the farmers so they can grow more food.

Farsante "gave" to the farmers too.  Gave them the chance to do backbreaking labor on his land so he could collect a profit. When you give ownership to the good men and women who have given their lives to the soil, you will be giving them their just due.  Asking them to sell themselves into debt slavery so you can keep a profit is not giving them a gift, that's the same raw deal they had before.

So if you're going to continue, could you at least use a brighter blue? I'm not sure if it will work for your color scheme, so pick whatever also works for you (but not this, please).
In case you're wondering, mainiac's green is easier to read, and  Evil Marahadja's red is almost better then color=default, go figure))

Farsante Seized land which is the same land i'm proposing to give to the campesino's who WORK the land. You don't know what's what in the agricultural scene here in chimerica. So stay out of it and leave it to specialist like myself.

((just a note:
Campesinos are the small farmers. They have poor land and grow our food.
Coffee growers are (at the moment) small-to medium sized farmers. they grow coffee (duh), and buy food with the profits. We want to support their branch of agriculture (once the food crisis is solved).
Cotton cultivators are the owners of large estates. They were the backbone of the old regime and use cheap local labor to stay afloat in an (arguably) unprofitable branch of agriculture. There are complaints that the land they own was strong-armed from the Campesinos, though in theory the sales were legal under Chimerican law.
finally the Landless Laborers are the lowest of the low- poor, often illiterate people, who work on cotton plantations (but not the coffee farms- that Coffee Worker) and (I'm guessing) the TNC plant.))

It is these last (and not the first) that toil in our communal farms. Both I and (unless I'm mistaken) Eva believe that allowing them to take ownership of the land instead of working "for Uncle Jose" will increase yields and alleviate the food crisis. We only differ on how it is to be done.

Perhaps, Presidente, you will consider a middle path?  Let a lottery pick half the tenants of Farsantes lands to get the rent reprieve for a year so that the harvest can be helped next year.  The other farms will be sold to those who are willing to strike a deal with diabolo in the bank.  Then we have at least some improvement for the people.
