Would having a different OTTD version cause problems? What about having an unmodded vs. a modded game?

I don't know.  If it matters, I'm using 1.6.1 no mods.

We have a Discord server if you guys wanna use that

I'm pretty sure I got it right this time, as it's showing up twice on my laptop, once with the Private LAN IP and once with my Public IP (Probably due to having both added to the list using the 'Add Server' button).  Before, it was only showing up on the former.

Edit: Aaaand, it's gone for some reason.

Set it to those parameters.  Messed around and the public is showing up again on my laptop, so try now.

I'm trying to do that.  I've never really done this before, so it's pretty much been trial by fire to figure out what I'm screwing up.

Tried something new how about now?

And I can connect to "Bay12" :D.

I should probably have stopped messing with stuff the instant I saw this...Wound up rebooting the server when I was getting weird disconnect messages when doing some 'practice' connections with my laptop...  Password is all lowercase 'password',

Okay, rebooted as a dedicated server, anyone else having problems connecting?  Should note I killed the password until this is figured out.

Just so people know, I gave up trying to figure out what was going wrong and shut down my attempt.

You do have to have the exact same version of ottd for multiplayer.

Both the one I installed on my laptop and linux computer were the exact same versions.  Hell, I tried to connect to the server from another instance of the exact bloody same download from the same computer and nothing changed!  I've tossed a message up onto their forums, maybe they'll have something.

Hehe nice to see I didn't necro this thread in vain. Fun little game, TTD.

I just spent a day in the scenario editor and created a map tailored to trucking. If anyone wants to give it a try give me a holler and I can send you the .scn file through puuush or somesuch. No mods, just vanilla.

Here's the center part. There's 4 more towns off-screen, for a total of 9 towns on a 512x512 map.
