Albatross problems
« on: August 26, 2014, 12:16:13 am »

Grrrrr... Started a new fortress, everything's running smoothely except for one thing... Albatrosses. Sitting at the edge of the map between 15 and 20 Z-levels up, barely moving even after five years have passed. Because of them, absolutely no other animals will come to my fortress!

Anyone have some advice for getting rid of them? I'm working on dedicated towers to take some shots at them with ballistae, but I would really like some suggestions for more expedient/violent ways to get rid of them! Resources aren't an issue!

They are supposed to fly properly in .40.10. If you have an older version of .40.x, go into the save game raws and remove the [FLIER] tags, and they'll fall to the ground.

Just don't shoot them all.

A 10-z high up/down stairs with a small archer platform should probably do it, no?

Take heed and shoot not the Albatross. Especially with a crossbow.

Let's take a moment to realize that with historical figures in armies, we can show enemy soldiers the dead bodies of their family members who were in the last wave.

And they will cry about it.

That's what I was thinking, too. Very bad luck may result.

Have them killed. Nothing solves a problem quite as effectively as simply having it killed.
