What we have here, is failure to communicate...
Mainly because our new friend -who apparently has the ability to send forums to the void by creating a new thread- is an experienced chatroomie. This is a forum, not a chatroom, and different rules apply.
For instance, a forum post is not the same as a chatroom line. A chatroom line is more of a stream-of-consciousness thing, where you write whatever comes to mind whenever it comes to mind. A forum is a place for discussion, and every post should be a thought-out opinion or comment. You are suppsoed to put as much thought and consideration into the wording of your posts, and as such you should not need to post more in quick succession, since you've already illustrated your opinion. If you missed something or made a mistake that you wish to correct, there is an edit button provided at the top of each post (it looks like a piece of paper with a pencil).
Since these are discussions, feel free to comment if you feel you have something to contribute. Conversely, please don't post if you have nothing to add.
You do not need to inform us of when you are leaving a thread. Nobody knows when you enter or leave a thread, and nobody really cares. All they care about is what you have posted as your official statements in that thread.
Also, and this is very important, never assume authority when you do not have it. Chatrooms are a constant battle of people continually asserting themselves or giving themselves positions of power that they may or may not have. In a forum, you do not define your own authority. You try to make yourself as likeable and coherent to the other people as possible, and as you gain acceptance you gain respect, and as you gain respect you are given authority by the other members.
GreyMario, honestly... If anything, the Internet has a base requirement of illiteracy. It sucks, sure, but that's how it goes. I tried to correct it all before, but that got me nowhere with a pack of scorn on my back. I now try to lead by example. I'm still not getting anywhere, but the going's much lighter.
Inquisitive, Firefox's spellchecker is dreadful. It's better than nothing, but not always. I've actually had it correct a properly-spelled word with a misspelled word before, not to mention the fact that it only accepts British spellings of words.
EDIT: Wow, I could've sworn there was only one page of this when I replied... I guess I should've checked the date.
