OK, this is addressed to everybody in the thread *except* the OP:

There's only one rule on the internet that's more important than "Don't spell like a three-fingered rhesus-macaque", and it's "Don't feed the trolls".

One "Here is a link to the part of the wiki that answers your questions" and one "Here is a link to the subforum for fortress fiction" was all that was needed.  

The most civil thing you can do in the face of incivility is remain civil. Jumping on someone who just seems to be a typical denizen of the internet (not that I'm saying that's a good thing) makes this board look elitist and self-involved.  Not to mention kinda lame.

This is why this forum needs Moderators. Trolls are active outside Toady's time zone, as we can all see (even if the man keeps freakish hours) and with the game becoming more and more popular, I'd rather see Toady use his time to work on the game than spend it all on this forum cleaning up after the asshats.

All fair points. But this user has obviously displayed the talent for ignoring all reasonable and fair advice whilst constantly spamming his worthless opinion, littered with insults, thus voiding any and all obligation to treat him like a human being.

And I hardly think it's 'elitism' to expect a level of respect for your fellow posters, a measure of common sense, and intelligence above that of a damp giraffe. We shouldn't be expected to lower our standards to accommodate for people who in turn refuse to lift theirs.
