A flat zone, outside.  I see what appears to be a dust storm but no notification in my alerts.

I use "k" to look and I see the grass in the spot and then two listings for ash samaras (spelling confirmed).  The wiki and a Google search show no reference to this item.  Nothing showing up in the creature/other listing. 

Any idea what it may be?

Appears to be the fruit of this tree.  (And fruits are not fully implemented yet.  They just coat the ground in an aesthetically pleasing way and can't be picked up.)

A Wikipedia search for samara leads me to Samara (fruit).

Samaras are the little winged floating seeds that maple trees and their relatives drop.  Further confirmation that Toady is awesome
