Kalen doesn’t get a clean shot on the hostage taker and instead shoots at the prone bandit. The bolt narrowly misses the bandit, scratching his leather jacket as he rolls to the side.

Vorot drops Splitter and quickly draws a giant throwing axe from one of his bandoleers. He swings it at the  hatchet-using bandit and misses.

Isabelle slips a short distance down the side of the hole, placing her quarterstaff at one of the corners and using it as a handhold. From there she grabs hold of one of the four ropes suspending the platform from a contraption, clearly visible from below, on the roof. She slides down the rope to the platform below.

The platform continues to lower itself down the shaft.

Continue down preferable drop on a bandit.

Kalen sighs, puts away his crossbow, and attempts to slide down a rope to reach the platform.

Kalen puts his crossbow away and steps off the side of the hole, grabbing hold of the strange, pale rope to slow his fall.

Vorot swings his throwing axe at the hatchet-using bandit but he blocks the blow with his buckler.

Isabelle lets go of the rope at the last minute and tries to drop onto the hatchet-using bandit. She misses and lands badly, striking the platform just inches from where the bandit is standing. Isabelle is currently prone.

The prone bandit comes to his senses and pulls himself into a crouch, swinging his maul at Vorot as he does. Vorot barely manages to dodge the blow.

The hatchet turns and attacks the prone dark one. In her dazed state Isabelle can’t raise her quarterstaff fast enough and the hatchet leaves a deep wound in her torso. The dark one grits her teeth and manages to stay conscious.
((Isabelle is at 0 HP and may pass out at any moment))

Light floods across the platform as it reaches its destination. A carved stone room lies beyond the rough doorway.

“Alright, that’s enough.” Says the hostage-taker, pointedly pressing his knife to the blacksmith’s throat. “The three of us are going ta step off this platform and you’re going ta wait right here until this thing goes back up. Clear?”

((No more updates until Monday. I'm visiting my dad for Father's Day.))

Kalen grips the rope harder, attempting to use his climbing skill to slow or halt his descent before calling down in the most stereotypically callous Shadow Elf voice he can manage. "Do your worst, you have no real leverage. You kill the blacksmith, I claim you had offed him before we arrived, and still draw some reward for avenging him. You finish the Dark One off, it merely means I have fewer people to split the payday with. Unless you think three men can best an Ogre and an elf, you will leave the Blacksmith with us, and send this platform back up."

((I thought I dropped the staff on the way down so I would be using my Judo skill.))

Kalen fails to slow his descent and the platform rattles as he touches down.
 
Vorot places his throwing axe back in his bandoleer and readies Splitter.
Isabelle stands unsteadily.

The bandits all step off the platform and into the carved stone room, taking the hostage with them.

The bandit holding the hostage replies to Kalen, “It’s strange that a man without leverage can feel so safe. Perhaps this blacksmith wards off attacks.”

There's a knife in the hostage-taker's hand and another one in the same bandit's belt. Other than that, nothing.

Vorot says "Orge take no insult from little man!" Charge at him, just collide with them if they dont move.

"Or perhaps he will just make your suffering greater when you have both his weight and the Ogre's ontop of you, hmmm?" Kalen comments as the goon charges the hostage taker.

Kalen readies his sword. If any of the bandits come after him, he fights defensively, otherwise, he moves aggressively and attempts to land killing blows to the heads or necks of the bandits busy with the Ogre.

Vorot charges both the hostage and the hostage-taker, slamming into them and sending them both sprawling. The hostage-taker’s knife is knocked out of his grasp and clatters across the stone floor.

Isabelle waits, briefly, before losing consciousness.

Kalen waits to see how the other bandits react, watching their movements carefully. As soon as the hatchet-using bandit moves to attack, Kalen leaps in to action with little thought for defense. As he closes in on his target he feels the hatchet strike his leather armour but it isn’t enough to slow his blade. Kalen stabs at the back of the bandit’s head as he moves. He quickly pulls it out, whips the blade around and stabs at the maul-using bandit.

Before Kalen can strike the bandit manages to hit Vorot in the side with enough force to seriously injure a mere human. Kalen’s blade strikes true regardless, sinking into the bandits skull. The hatchet user falls to the ground behind Kalen and the other bandit soon joins him.

The last bandit pulls himself into a crouch and draws his other knife. He looks wildly around the room, panic in his eyes.

E: The blacksmith crawls away from the bandit.

(Kalen and Vorot are in a room made of finely carved stone. To the south is a crude doorway leading to an elevator shaft, here Isabelle lies unconscious. To the east is a stone door, it is slightly ajar. To the west is another stone door, it is open and light can be seen in the passage beyond. )
