As both Kalen and Isabelle descend from the inn's upper level one of the guards from last night stands to attention in full arms and armour, all shined to a mirror sheen. He unlocks a small chest and pulls out a bag.

"Here it is, four-hundred-fifty crowns. That's the agreed reward for bringing the blacksmith back and the bounty on those bandits. If you'd stay a while you might see the trial on the east side of the village. "

He walks over and sets a smaller bag down beside Shirley's breakfast.

"One hundred crowns Miss Vester, as specified in your contract."

The guard picks the chest up and turns to leave, he might wait if you have any questions.

In the rooms above an orge sharpens his axes and a young girl skirts the line between the waking world and the land of dreams.

E: ((Kalen, Vorot, and Isabelle have learned from their experiences in the cave and have gained 5 character points. Shirley has learned the value of carefully phrased contracts and has gained 2 character points.))

After all axes are sharpen the orge leave his room to look for something to eat (hopefully not some random bystander )

(OOCly, what sort of stuff does Vorot need Varee? Because ICly, I don't think Kalen wants to let him hold onto any money. I don't think he would be opposed to buying his goon supplies though.)

Kalen smirks. "Make no mistake, I like my women, but not when they are that young."

Kalen follows Isabelle towards the door, with the bag of money. "I propose we split at least four hundred evenly between ourselves, and give the remainder, if anything, to the Ogre. I do suspect the brute is too dumb to do his own shopping, and we will have to take care of him anyway for the time being should we wish to make further use of him."

((I needed a reason to give you money and C-Points. I reasoned that the Shrieve may have wanted a mage to assist him in locating and capturing the bandits and contracted one from the academy. The problem was fixed before you arrived and you got paid anyway.))


Vorot walks in and sits down, orders his breakfast, and waits until it arrives in a pot.

Isabelle takes 150 crowns and leaves the inn in search of the blacksmith. It doesn't take long as a small crowd of well-wishers and onlookers has gathered around the smithy. She spots the blacksmith in the centre of the crowd, standing on a crate with the bloody axe in hand, loudly telling his version of events.

"... and there they were, a huge monster with great pointed teeth, a tall warrior maiden from among the cursed, and an unseelie nobleman. The most ragtag group I've ever laid eyes on, yet undeniably brave to be standing against those ten- no, twenty bloodthirsty marauders. I knew they needed my help so I struck my captor, took his axe," he raised the axe in the air, "and joined my rescuers in ba-"

As he turned he spotted the destinctively tall dark one and felt a bit of a fool.

"What happened then?" asked a man from the crowd.

"What?" said the blacksmith, distractedly, "Uh, we fought our way out."

Isabelle nearly smirks before nodding and calling out from her position.
"Don't sell yourself short! I saw you fight at least three of them at once AND strike down one that was trying to sneak up on out large friend!"

Kalen shrugs, pockets the remaining money, and heads up to his room, where he gives Likkie a sharp prod in the shoulder. "Up child. Your father just got paid, and it is time for him to do something for his daughter. I was thinking of tracking down the local clothier and having something made for you, or perhaps seeing if the Smith would be willing to cut me a deal on a knife or kiddy sword for you to play with... "

The blacksmith smiles at the dark one, "Of course, and I would have struck down more if I'd been using steel forged in the shadow of ash." The crowd gives a brief patriotic cheer and one or two villagers chuckle. The crowd begin to disperse as the blacksmith steps off his crate. The day is young and they have things to do.



The young girl sits up in bed and rubs the sleep out of her eyes, briefly disorientated and unsure of whether to be insolent or excited. At the mention of having something made for her she smiles and quickly makes herself presentable. She's soon ready.

Kalen leads his daughter outside, and briefly pauses for thought. "I think I saw that foolish dark one goon was heading towards the Blacksmith. I may work with her again, but she is not the sort that it would be prudent to spend my leisure time with... I suppose we shall figure out who makes clothes around here, child."

Kalen checks to see if the town has a Clothier, and if said Clothier is open yet.
