First, I captured a Bronze Colossus in a cage trap, and all was well.

Then, I spammed <enter> to pasture the animals that came with a new wave of migrants. Then, one of my dwarves tried to pasture the colossus.

Here's where things got confusing. I sent the military to kill the colossus, and they did. Several z-levels away, 5 of my dwarves started brawling and two of them are now dead. The dwarves who were killed aren't showing up under justice, but why would they brawl? Is it a colossus effect? It says it causes mayhem...

There's a bug that causes dwarves that lead enemies to be considered enemies as well. What likely happened is that your military killed the pasturing dwarf and started a loyalty cascade.

That makes sense! Thanks! The pasturing dwarf did get killed as well, but I figured that was just because it was chaotic and he got caught in the fray.
