Depends on how they're armed.

Lots of Crossbowmen, one master pikeman, lots of piddly maceman, and one (now) master lasher. A bunch of trolls are dead, a few of the gobbos, and the cave crocs are standing off to the side.

The lasher has been raining death down and managed to get to master, he's the only one to actually hurt it. And he has.

Edit: how do I post a screenshot btw?

Thanks!

I think the lasher has fractured every bone(do colossi have bones? or are they just solid bronze?) in his body.

I imagine them as giant hollow statues, and the crackedness is just that - the material is cracked.
I know from experience that the lasher's pretty much gonna wail on the thing for about 3 ingame days before finally killing it, or get ganked by a lucky push by the thing.

I've done it about 5 times with various adventurers, so I think that's what'll happen. It's actually pretty easy to kill them once you know how.

 Ok, so the colossus broke a few more legs then smeared a hammer goblin into the ground and the rest of his attackers ran for the hills. There's still a big group of macemen and cave crocs that haven't engaged him yet, just kinda watched the fight from behind the river. The lasher, their one real hope, has fled.

Or that. I keep on forgetting that adventurers are bodies possessed by the will of Armok.

 It's all over folks! The Gobs have fled the field!

 Now how do I dismember this thing for marksdwarf training?

Drop it ~20 z levels. That should work.

If you plan purely on training marksdwarves with him, dismemberment is unnecessary.

Code: [Select]
.......
.+++++.
.+###+.
.+#+#+.
.+###+.
.+++++.
.......

. down ramp
# fortification
+ floor

Build the BC's cage in the middle and release him/pit him in the middle. Create a burrow on the surrounding floor tiles for your marksdwarves, and set them to defend it. Missed bolts will fall down the down ramps into channels for collection and reusing. The BC doesn't can't move, and there's no risk of some hothead axedwarf killing it with his candy toy.

Alternatively create some variation of this with a longer range so that more bolts miss. More misses means same xp with less waste.
