Guys keep pulling out guns and the police keep shooting them first. It seems US cops are as talented with their guns as they are terrified of the public. And it seems the recklessness of the suspects is only matched by their ineptitude with guns.

US Cops are actually really really bad at shooting things as a general rule.

Like terrifyingly bad.

One worries just how many body bags would be needed over there if they were actually skilled marksmen armed with something other than generally pistols.

They generally make up for lack of precision with volume of fire. They're trained to empty their entire magazine at a target and generally fire at a fairly close range.

they get more than pistols. The police are so militarized at this point that when SWAT teams have an event, Israeli soldiers, the marines, and other armed forces types go there to learn things from them.

They've been getting even more armed and were using a sound device to disperse protests recently, which can cause permanent hearing loss. These things are meant to be used in violent situations where opening fire would be a bad idea, but they are using that and tear gas and all kinds of things to stop demonstrations. That's the peace keeping stuff. It's getting to the point where they will all just be given tanks and flamethrowers for general civilian policing.

Obviously theres filthy genestealers in the crowds and the only thing that can cleanse them is the righteous fury of promethium THE EMPEROR AMERICA! .  The tanks are of course necessary because of what comes afterwards.

One thing giving them all tanks could solve would be the 'b-but I was threatened!' excuses.

Apparently there's quite a bit of data to show that our unconscious racism is playing a large part in these shootings. Both officers and civilians are quicker to shoot black people whether they have a gun or not.
