Do we really need a coroner to figure out what actually happened here?

It makes everyone feel better to go through the motions. People like procedure.

Actually, after the autopsy where it was revealed he got shot in the chest, the story is that he shot himself in the chest with a gun that the police missed in their search ... with his hands cuffed behind his back.

Are they even trying? How blatant and anti-lawful can you be without the media descending upon you like a hawk?

Well, the kid (presuming you're talking about Victor White) still got killed and covered up in a ridiculously false manner. Focusing on the racial aspect is missing the forest for the trees. Racism may have been the cause, but it doesn't matter because even if it wasn't racial it's still completely insane.

This guy. Even if the killing wasn't racially motivated, I'm not really reassured by the thought of police going around indiscriminately killing people.

America's justice system really needs an S.T.A.B.

It needs a what now?

Anyway it's about 2 months old, but I've brought some more fuel for the fire:
http://www.cnn.com/2014/06/20/us/albuquerque-police-investigation/

Yes, that was recorded on the shooter's helmet camera.

Haven't clicked the link  but was that the one where they killed a homeless guy for sleeping without a permit, then shot him with beanbags and sicked a dog on him after he was dead?
EDIT: yes yes it was.
26 people in 4 years? WTF Albuquerque, that's more dead than most serial killers.

S.T.A.B. means that your attacks are stronger when they are the same type as you.

So the evil internal affairs departments that come down on any officer even slightly stepping out of line as portrayed in tv/film do not really exist? Or do they exist but are they as corrupt and ineffectual as other US policing efforts?

21st century: where a good image is worth more than hundreds of people killed unlawfully by police.
