Same name yeah.  I could swap in for flameboy if there are no better candidates?

Join us! The Bay12 Nobles will become Philosophers all, and prove once and for all that we are not worthy of the endless torture those damn peasant dwarves keep putting us through. Come to think of it, once my MiGl is over, maybe I should play a Hammerer... Hmm, a M&F Wielding DD of Mahkleb perhaps?

Came across Miauw's ghost down on Shoals:3, gave me enough of a problem that I had to teleport away and come back with BIA spam.

Few notes:

It take 4 hours for most rc modifications to reach the site - that's the reason 4nt's name was delayed. He shows up now, though. (I'll update the first post in a bit)

I need to stop sucking. For being the organizer, I'm failing miserably compared to everyone here.

Would anybody be up for setting up an IRC channel for this?

Done. #bay12dcss on freenode. Come join me so I'm not all alone.

Ow. Got ambushed by Eustachio, Pikel, Edmund, horde of crocs, ogre and lots of green rats on D9 at lvl 10 GaWi. Kited them with mephitic and staff of chaos, courtesy of Yif at D7. Gotta take a little break to avoid YASD, and sleep seldom hurts anyhow.

I always suffer agonies waiting for my rc to update, thinking I made a mistake, re-checking my typing :).

Check out my new hat - its kinda cool, but I worry does it make me look fat?

Anyone have any advice for how to properly tackle the vaults end with a MiBe? I'm going to be doing that after clearing out Snake, and that place always seems to be full of oh-shit-teleport-NOW situations when you try to melee everything. Never ending vault guards, ancient liches, dragons, etc. is really difficult if you cant clear them a few turns after they step onto the screen, and playing teleport roulette to avoid the stair ambush is dangerous too. Half tempted to blow all my piety and come down with a BIA army.

My typical plan for that situation is to buff to the gills, pop a fear scroll to disperse the ambush, then run down one of the side passages so I'm in a defensible hallway/corner, pop BIA and fight like a demon. It is probably not an optimal strategy, but then again Vaults is usually my 4th rune unless I lack rMut for the Abyss.

My best runs have always been with Centaur Hunters, but I always have difficulty keeping up my supply of missiles (I nearly always go shortbow or throwing). Particularly when I'm playing bows I always seem to run really low on arrows/bolts.

Okawaru and Trog can and will gift you missiles for your weapon, also Okawaru gives you armor usable by you, so you may get a branded centaur barding this way.

I'm in. You can expect very few games played and Chei-like pacing.

Never really needed armor for my centaurs, but those are both valuable bits of info. Though.. Trog's gifts were rather infrequent when I was a minotaur. He gave me two or three axes, spread out pretty good.

Don't forget to use Trog's Hand when something with a dangerous magical effect like paralyse appears - the buff to MR really helps.

If you've been training Evocations (you probably should have been since a berserker has so few other skills they need to train,) it's a good time to shoot off things like lamps of fire and phials of floods; there's lots of XP to be gained in Vault 5, so they will recharge quite quickly.

Sometimes I wonder if confusion isn't just a little overpowered at times...

More rare/intelligent enemies tend to have resistance to it (or is that just the Final Fantasy portion of my RPGbrain speaking).
