Just started a DDNe of Makhleb, and found a +6 trident of pain off of a gnoll sergeant - and before that, I saw that there was a +4 glaive of pain in a general store. I can only imagine the horrible ways in which this run will end :(

EDIT: And I just found a wand of hasting.

So, if it would be okay, 4nt (intermediate/advanced) would join the crew to (hopefully) further the glory of Bay12.

I'll take a shot at this then, I've had multiple wins in the past but haven't played much for a while.  I really like the inventory management reduction in 0.15 though so I may be able to play more.

e: oh, and by the way the best piece of advice I've heard for this game is to not move towards enemies barring exceptional circumstances (eg you have to rush them down because they're attacking you from range and you can't dip round a corner to avoid that).  Moving towards enemies increases the chance that you'll attract more monsters and get into a bad situation.  You could better spend the turn throwing a stone at them or whatever.

So I tried Chei this tournament and it went pretty well :

Trolls with 42 str, 29 dex and statue form are no joke, Orb guardians were casually one shot.

I do love my lajataurs. I have been wondering though, about my ranged attacks - should I train some throwing or crossbow? I have a manual of crossbows in a stash someplace, but switching weapons with my vampiric laj is annoying. Okie has gifted me a fair few missile gifts, but I wouldn't want to encourage him too much - I guess 6 levels of throwing wouldn't hurt my ability to use my javelins of penetration, hmm.

The line in my file should read # TEAMMEMBERS vogonpoet 4nt
Is this correct? Because that's what I have. Actually while I'm at it let me add Leafsnail (same username?)
Ant, iirc the very first line of your rc file should be:
# TEAMCAPTAIN BaronMunchausen
with the same spacing, capitalisation, etc.

Also, yeah, killed by Sojobo's gang in the Crypt. I should have done Snake or Elf 3 or Vault 4 first, there's nothing good in Crypt except xp and the Tomb, which I wouldn't have visited anyway. But Trog gifted me Undeadhunter and I was itching to try it out.
What carried me through up to that point was my +11 giant club {crush, MR++}, probably the best Trog gift I ever got.
