The Home Front: 2050 (signups now open, 6/13)
« on: August 23, 2014, 02:31:49 pm »

In 2047, the United States invaded Russia.  Ignoring protests at home and abroad, they pushed aside the Russian Army and conquered the country.  Many lives were lost in those first years, but the worst was yet to come.

In 2049, a Russian militant group calling itself The Coalition for Freedom began launching hit and run attacks against American Military Patrols in the country.  Time after time they struck, only to fade away when air support arrived.  Their attacks fanned the flames of growing unrest back in the United States, and the government declared martial law as protests rocked the nation's major cities.

Now, the protesters have been forced into hiding.  Meeting in secret, they attempt to stop government rallies and interfere with operations at home.  Recently, the protesters of Portland have heard of a new government pro-war rally to be held in two week's time, and two of their best operatives have been dispatched to sabatoge the planning process.

Welcome to The Home Front: 2050, a mafia game set in a war torn nation.  You all will play the parts of a few men and women in Portland, Oregon, playing out their lives as they plot and scheme to achieve their own ends.  Will you be a loyal patriot, standing by your flag in your nation's hour of need?  Will you be a protester, forced to take illegal action in an effort to save lives abroad?  Will you be a russian spy, sent to aid the protests and end the violence?  Will you be a recruiter, or a member of the police?  Or will you be an extremist, willing to kill for your cause?

Rules:
  • Votes should be done in Bold Red font.  Unvotes should be done the same way.
  • There shall be no pm's between players.  Those players who can talk to each other secretly will be provided with a quicktopic to accomplish this.  Pm'ing the mod is perfectly acceptable.
  • Never, ever quote pm's the mod has sent to you.  You may paraphrase.
  • Days last 48 hours, nights last 24 hours.  Two extensions are available each day, each of which extends the day 24 hours, each of which requires a majority to vote for it.  Let's keep it snappy, people.
  • Don't post at night or after the day ends.  If you do, please edit out your post.
  • The game ends when all protesters or all patriots are dead.  If you have not accomplished your wincon by that time, you have lost.
Role List:

Action Resolution Order:
  • Redirection
  • Kill and scumkill
  • Search the Records, Patriot Rally, Words of Dissent
  • Recruitment
Misc Questions Answered:
Q: So the police chief's inspect determines a player's exact role?
A: Not quite.  It will determine the exact role of any third party, but if it targets a patriot or a protester it works a little differently.  If they target the Protest Organizer or the Patriot Organizer, they will receive a role of "inspection".  If they target the protester or a patriot, they receive the role of "vanilla".
Q: Wait, how does shootout work?
A: If one of the extremists is targeted by the Military Recruiter, the extremist is roleblocked UNLESS their chosen target that night was the military recruiter.  If their target was the military recruiter, then their action works normally (and the military recruiter dies).
Q: Are people told what actions were performed on them?
A: If a player is recruited, they are told as much.  If a shootout occurs, both parties are told that it happened, but not who was involved.  A player is not necessarily informed who their action targeted: they are told who they attempted to action.  They are, however, informed if their action failed (except in the case of the recruiter targeting the spy, in which case they are not told that their action failed).
Q: Can actions be self targeted?
A: The only action that can be self-targeted normally is redirection.  All non-kill actions can be self-targeted if redirection would target them back onto themself.
Q: So wait, who can the military recruiter not recruit?
A: The military recruiter cannot recruit the extreme patriot, extreme protester, foreign spy, and himself.  He can recruit the police chief, though this would be redundant since the police chief already counts as a soldier.

Yes.

I may stop by from time to time to mod games, but I'm leaving the playing arena.
