any logistic games like industry giant?
« on: August 23, 2014, 11:14:00 am »

industry giant 1 was a little wonder game to me.

the chain from materials to shop, the way that advertisement, shop and competition tied together with transport and logistic issues was amazing

I am looking for more of the like.

I already play factorio, but it has no competition and market and transport tycoon, which has not production and sales

what else I could try that has similar completeness and yet simplicity of the original industry giant?

ANNO series has quite a bit of supply chains and the like.

OpenTTD modded with FIRS/ECS could provide some of the complexity you would like.

Capitalism 2 has advertisement, sales, competition, and supply chains, so that's probably the closest.

Capitalism Plus is probably your best bet.

The most recent Capitalism game is Capitalism Lab, a stand alone expansion on CapII.
It's probably the best series for what you want, though.

I am going trough the tutorials of capitalism 2, got it off gog.

the interface is quite cryptic, I lose money in the tutorial and there is not much info about how to get more efficiency out of the manufacture.

seems interesting, I'll keep banging my head on it.

Railroad Tycoon 3 (and 2 to some extent) has elements of it.
Then there's Trade Empires... a rather old game but very similar to Transprt Giant.

There's a tiny logistics chain in FreeCol (colonization remake). You could think of advertising as diplomacy with Europeans and market opportunity as scouting natives I guess. Floating markets, but no real supply/demand system.

It's a game. Have fun.

Its supposed to be continuously worked on/updated from what I figure. (I'm not seeing it or they just simply don't post changelogs.)
And it has DRM, online sign-in.  I think it also tries to check in ever hour.

I woulda returned it, but then I bought it and let it sit around for a week or 2 before I found out about it.

Capitalism Online is fun. It's a free little browser game. Only thing is, it's not being actively developed anymore and doesn't have a huge player base. it was developed by one guy and said guy got a good job and has no more free time I guess. He does reboot the servers when they go down at least.

If you do play shoot me a message over there, Urist McCheesmaker

and yes, I do make cheese.

edit: it doesn't having any of the transport aspect though.

Try factorio. It's early access, but is supposed to be worthwhile even as is.

It's one of the survival/resource-management-em up's like minecraft that are all the rage currently, with the primary difference being that it focuses on eliminating the menial resource gathering parts almost entirely outside of the first few minutes and then automating those processes. It also operates at a much larger scale. It is like the buildcraft-esque minecraft mods only it is much easier to get into the automation component.
