Married vs. single dwarves as migrants
« on: August 22, 2014, 12:02:55 pm »

Hiya,

Currently, since all migrants are drawn from historical populations until these are exhausted, the vast majority of migrants arriving at a given fort are married (since most dwarves in a world are married).  There are very few single dwarves, making it difficult to complete certain generational-fort scenarios (e.g. every dwarf in the fort must marry).  I propose a value (set-able in the init) for the proportion of randomly-generated dwarves in each migrant wave (or perhaps a min/max setting), with the current setting (0 unless no more historical individuals are available) as the default.

If software was real world, then it'd be something equivalent of hitting a nail with a hammer and having a building collapse on the other side of town.

Don't worry people, sometimes -moments occur
