Lesbians???
« on: August 21, 2014, 05:14:35 am »

Alright. I have a female carpenter and a female fisherdwarf who are actually in love with each other. Is it common in DF? I am a keen dwarfer but it's the first time I have something like that. Where can such relationships lead? Will they marry eventually? Can male dwarfs come out as gays as well? This game never stops surprising me!

Male dwarves are also possible. There's an orientation flag somewhere. They can marry, IIRC, but no babies (until someone introduces an in vitro-fertilization clinic mod).

You'd think that would be normal in a game with ethereal floating animal spores.. lol

Also, now I want an orphanage/adoption facility.

I hope transgenderism is added soon too, to be able to train my surgeons, suturers and wound dressers in between sieges.

With the sort of populations we're dealing with, orphanages aren't necessary. In a tribe of 200, everybody knows everybody, a free couple or someone with the dream of starting a family can just take the kid.

I don't think that dwarven surgery is quite... nuanced enough for anything remotely delicate. They can take things out and stitch you up and that's about it.
But what dwarves do typically have in fiction (and presumably in DF) is a kind of innate magic with metalworking. I'm sure there's a least one mythological story that involves a magical dong being made, and it's probably within dwarven ability to tune it to a person's mind and graft it on.

I think there's actually a story of just such a thing, that the dwarves fashion for Thor (who is the patron god of dwarves) so that he could sleep with this one powerful giantess for so many nights without dying like all her other lovers had on their first nights- all so that he could persuade her to grant him some new magic weapon that would aid him in killing more giants, faster. Nevermind that he probably could have asked the dwarves to make him a copy of the weapon instead, where's the fun in logical things like that?
