Well, this is a problem.

I propose that we move ~2000 blocks further out and build a new base. Thoughts?

And we keep ourselves totally secret? Might work. Have the nearest nether portal some distance away, keep absolutely everything underground... turning Paranoid Mode up to 11?

Or, we could find a different server with grief protection. I know it's planned for this one, but their solution is to stick people in adventure mode. Which isn't really going to help.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Not griefed: Zan's castle.

Honestly isn't anything they can really do to it, considering its skeletal and is composed of very common materials.

Anyway, my vote is on filling our inventories with as much useful stuff as possible, then go stupid far into the ocean (maybe cross a continent?) and build Rapture.  We should have enough at this point to be able to build it easily.

With teleports, couldn't we move large quantities of things to the new site?

Maybe. I've got enough equipment and potions on hand to take on the sea temple, if we need to move in immediately. I don't think they'll be able to hit us there, unless they have X-ray on or something, and I'll construct a nether portal inside it.

and I'll construct a nether portal inside it.

Make sure that the exit is hidden on both sides and doesn't immediately lead to anything important. The nether portal allowed the grief earlier.

Edit: What coords should we move to? 1.5k blocks away from the spawn is too close. Also, should we start taking out the valuable blocks from the unneeded buildings?

We could perhaps ask an admin to 'port us millions of blocks away. Then it would only be accessible by teleport, because even from the Nether it's still an absurd distance to travel.

And yeah. Let's round up anything valuable that's survived thus far and plonk it in ender chests.

I've found a location 4232, 65, -67.  Coordinates for a tiny island that is surrounded by a deep ocean plain.

Footjob and I got Amber to tp us a few hundred kilometres away. There's some really cool terrain to build on.

It's way too far to walk, so you'll need to ask an admin to 'port you over.

Sounds like a prime site for Rapture. And more reachable for anyone who joins late (though that brings back the griefing risk.) I'll come take a look once I have a bed or home tp in the far site.

Even a Ravine, which also existed in Rapture.  However, if we're going to the site Elephant suggested, I'm out.  So it really is a fairly prime location for the city.  But if we abandon that one, I'm out for the remainder of this server.

I didn't suggest a location; I just said we should go a decent distance out.

If you don't want to play, that's you decision. I'm pretty happy with the spot for New Treeland - a flower forest on a hill overlooking taiga. Smurfington and FJ were talking about building a medieval Nordic style town, so that should be pretty good. We're miles (literally) away from any potential griefers, so all we need to do now is be careful about who we allow to tp over.
With spawn/home teleports, there's pretty much no downside to being this far out. I'm more than happy to pay for people to move their teleports if needed.
