Creeper spawners do exist. They're just very rare. 1% or something IIRC.

...

Anyway, hey guys. Apparently this thread finally floated back up to the upper regions of my Updated Topics page.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

We should set up some kind of traps that can be activated/deactivated so that we can be ready if invaders come. Potion traps?

Won't do much good, any invaders will have full PvP gear.

Then you carry them with you and throw them, any traps will be disarmed and looted.

Unless they're in the ceiling, and too high to reach, and too dark to see... soddit.

Let's just build a giant cube of DRO and live in there. No-one ever said we needed to have fun.

I like the idea but have trouble picturing what you mean about the levels, but I trust you'll make it good. :)
I thought about the magma ocean, you need to provide 9 spaces above the magma to prevent fires, so construction would need to be done above level 10 ...
The factory room is in the way of the first level :/
Still it would have looked good...
Then again, the center level could be lower and have stairs leading to more functional levels of the magma pier, you can still build low over the magma as long as you don't allow housing, or anything where people might be tempted to place wood, wool, etc.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

There's apparently a new recipe named "Base" for the ore smelter, but it's not documented on the wiki at all. It uses 32 diamond ore and 16 redstone ore, but I have no idea what it does.

a) It's not new
2) It's documented, you must be using the old wiki
III) It's for making bastion blocks.

I thought of a truly impenetrable vault design:

Build an inverted pyramid at the map ceiling, the only access to which is a waterfall coming out of the bottom, which can be temporarily shut off by a lever. Use bastion blocks to prevent unauthorized people from pillaring or bridging to it. Would require a designated "vault keeper" to build a bed in it, so that when the vault needs to be accessed they commit suicide, respawn, and open it from within.

Ideally, the waterfall comes from a dispenser with a lever on it, for maximum space efficiency. This also enables the vault keeper to jump out after they do their job (though maybe they could just climb out the top. Can people stand on top of the map ceiling?)

MarkAFK: the levels I am refering to are 1 meter blocks, not 2 meter sets.
