We need to make a decision about the cone, one way or another. I don't wanna hafta redo the sides of the top once it's all done, and I'm not gonna make much progress until we decide.

Okay, here are our primary design options:

Cobble:
Pros - we have shittons of it; it requires no processing
Cons - if not well-executed, cobble design can look lazy.

Smoothstone:
Pros - gives a nice, natural look; easy to mass produce
Cons - we could do better

Stone bricks:
Pros - easy to make; fairly nice-looking
Cons - Overdone

A pattern of the above:

Alternating cobble/stonebrick and smoothstone, says I. Requires somewhat less digging and sequesters some of our digging material. In fact, I'll start on the lower cone. Since the other design up for consideration seems to be pure cobble, it will also take care of about half the work if we decide on that one.

Ninja EDIT: Eh, I'll do it anyway. That simple pattern should be easy to replace if we decide against it.

I love the furnace room, where is the new storeroom going?
I would like to IRO reinforce the whole thing eventually :P, once we get a string grinder going I can set up an obsidian grinder.
Edit: Did some work on the elevator at Laketown, the elevator is finished and reinforced, the stairs are dug and placed and a new dropshaft has been dug.

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

Furnace room is fully dug out, it just needs some decoration. I think we should do plain cobble for this one, at the very least.

EDIT: I've built a diamond pickaxe smithy, but I'm gonna keep it private for now. I'm gonna be gone over the weekend, so I set up an exchange chest on the east side of the factory room. 1 pickaxe for 2 diamonds, 2 pickaxes for 3.

DOUBLEEDIT: There's a chest of my charcoal next to the stone smelter, feel free to use it for stuff.

Anyway, I'll get on this evening (probably, unless EVE eats me). I am dragonshardz ingame, so it's easy to find me. I am a huge design nerd so if you guys want your cone thing to look REALLY NICE then all you need to do is stand back and let me work. :)

Just a warning, making it in MCedit is a bit difficult, since you can't just use the round brush (different circle patterns than mineconics.) Not as difficult as digging a new one in creative, but it would still take a while. We should probably have a dropbox or something so that someone can build a template and distribute it to work with.

I have never been on the server, so I have no idea what kind of space I have to work with.

Also, fuck MCEdit, I do my mockups in single player creative mode.

I've finished the cone shape in MCEdit. Give me a dropbox or a filesharing site, and I'll put the schematic there. Then people can use it to create their own designs and post screenshots.
