Louis, Marcus, Mitsuru and Tom are currently in the library. The former being fixated in conversation, though a quick aside glance alerts him to the new arrival, a matter that was acknowledged with an offhand wave.

"Yo. Am I butting in? kekekeke." Shiro chuckles mischievously.

[Empiricist]

"Not really, just talkin' bout the war and the guy trying to cap Marcus."

[JollyGent]

"...The war?" Shiro grins. Showing his shark teeth.

"Tell me about it. Let me be nosy." Shiro chuckles.

"What's her idea on what it is?"

[USEC_OFFICER]

"Hmmm... I don't know. And frankly I don't care. You're stuck here just like the rest of us, willingly or not."

[Empiricist]

"Well, the way I see it, we couldn't have won the damn thing unless something was pulling the strings. Think 'bout it, we knew nothing 'bout the Layar, magic wasn't public, they all had magic, better tech and had better training than half the people involved in the fucking thing. Seems a bit odd that we won by ourselves, don't ya think?"

Kyle looks at Ghislaine.
"Stuck implies I don't like it here."

[USEC_OFFICER]

"Stuck here means that you can't leave if you want to. You may like it here, but that doesn't mean that you can just pack up and go whenever you want to."

[JollyGent]

"Ahhhh...true. You and I think the same. But how does it affect us? It barely matters what happened. What is definite is now we have to control our magic. Tell me, why are you so worried? It's almost as if you're paranoid...beyond just skeptical."

[Empiricist]

"Why am I worried? Why the fuck aren't you worried? Ain't the fact that something somewhere's probably pulling the strings worth worrying 'bout? Let's just say that shit from the past gives me a real damn good reason to over-analyze this. And the more I do, the more I think we're just a buncha oblivious pawns."

[JollyGent]

"I don't worry because even if I do, I won't arrive to the right answer. What can you do? Listen. You might be a smart guy. That I do not deny. But kid, you are certainly not God. You do not have every answer, and not even the right variables to know the ultimate truth. There is nothing I can do, except few things. That is to alert my senses, strengthen myself, pray to my God, study alchemy so that if the moment comes, I can give my best shot. If that misses, well, no worries, because I tried my hardest and there was nothing more I could have done."


Shiro keeps a cocky, arrogant tone, but beneath that there was the desire to comfort.

[Empiricist]

"Who says we never will though? I mean, I'd think whatever sonofabitch who's pulling the strings would be one of the things that benefits from the Layars losing, possesses the means and will to do it without just popping up and capping things, and is able to screw their asses over without even having to show up. Eventually we ought to be able to find out..."

[JollyGent]

"As long as you have a genius like me as your friend, all your worries should be sealed shut." Shiro chuckles as he comments arrogantly.

"Alchemy is not just about utilising the universe. It's about understanding it too. I'll keep digging until I find the well. So don't worry. Worrying will only falter one's senses." Shiro pats Louis on the back.

"In any case, let's keep ourselves alert to everything."

"Wait really? I thought it was just about a buncha old men doing weird-ass shit and trying to make gold."
