Magma buildings at start
« on: August 18, 2014, 05:36:27 am »

Recently I have noticed that Magma buildings are showing at start... and I don't know why

I don't find any close-by magma so am i missing something or have i screwed up a setting somewhere?

Have you created any other fortresses in that world? And if so, have you discovered the magma sea in them? If so, that's probably why.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

I've noticed magma buildings appearing in the menu immediately in DF2014, and this is a fresh world with no surface magma. I assumed it was an intentional change on Toady's part.

The way to get surface magma is to embark on a volcano (a red ^ on the world map). If you like, you can gen a new world with parameters and crank up the minimum number of volcanoes so you get more chances at a good embark spot.
