Would his probable death have been directly caused by the animal?

I tried to play chess but two of my opponents were playing competitive checkers as a third person walked in with Game of Thrones in hand confused cause they thought this was the book club.

Very no.
is his profession relevant to the case?
Very yes. Well, more like occupation than profession, but yeah.

Does his occupation involve production, transporting or consuming sausages?

Was the sausage ruse a distraction? (I have the detonator!)

Nope.

Probably.
Does his occupation involve production, transporting or consuming sausages?
Not at all.

Nah.

For some reason, I've been getting an odd idea about it for a while now (to wit, the comedy-esque "guy stoops to feed a dog, something smashes into the wall next to him right where his head was a second before"), so I may as well ask something a bit more specific: did he feed the animal?  More pertinently, did the act of feeding the animal (or if he didn't feed it, his interaction with the animal in general) lead directly to him avoiding the danger that would have killed him?

EDIT: Clarified the questions a bit.

To be clear I meant did he use the sausage as a distraction?

I will expand my answer a bit beyond the usual: he may have fed the animal, but that has no relevance to whether or not he survived. Feeding the animal was not essential to his survival.

Again, no.

Did the animal survive?

Did "he" bring the sausage for the purpose of feeding it to this animal?

Yes.

Not exactly. The purpose might have entailed feeding it to the animal in the end, but that was not the entirety of the purpose or even its main point.

I think this one might be a bit...overpowered, yeah.

Was a sausage an unusual thing for him to bring?

If so, did he bring anything else out of the ordinary?

For a person of his occupation - no to both.
