((Coincidence, Ahrian renamed herself to have a name closer to her "sister" (no blood relation) Lirian than her previous name, Aria, following the events of their meeting. She would have used Arian but that ends up being pronounced almost exactly the same as Aryan and I intervened to avoid the Hitler reference))

((Oops, forgot that you were in the room. Your presence right now is only mildly negative, with my only causes for worry being your physically imposing stature and that you tolerate the people around you. It's a net improvement of the overall makeup of the room.))

"Fascinating, such a visceral reaction to having one's tails touched." N had followed the group.  "Gentlemen, I would suggest avoiding her tails.  Biological foci for magical power are renowned for their sensitivity, especially with regards to mythical beings.  I suspect that even the slightest damage would be roughly equivalent to someone punching you in the dick."

I freeze in place when the hostile man speaks up from behind me, cornering me. but before I manage to reorganize my thoughts he had already spoken up in... my defense?
I slowly nod once, not fully understanding the comparison but it sounded about right. I make a mental note to ask what a dick is later.

"Is this not group two? Apologies.  I thought that we were missing the interesting girl and her handler." With that he summarily slips out of the room.  You can hear him hacking and wheezing down the hall as he leaves.[/color]

annnnnd then he leaves again, abandoning me.
I continue to hold my position, waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Steve shrugs and attempts to get everybody back on track, "So what are we doing? Or is the briefing not up yet?"

"Briefing is ready. But the psychological health of the team is more important."
He thinks for a second before speaking again.
"Short term psychological health that we can change I mean."

I rotate my head slightly to the right, bringing my left eye square with Kyle, still watching for what happens now.

Sven exits the room.
"Can I please not be in group one? Everyone other than Z are batshit insane."

and now the nice guy just walked into the room, asking to join this group instead.
I shuffle over towards him.

Yes.
"Fine. IF, and only if, you find someone to switch with."

If he doesn't do anything to stop me, I slide behind him and watch the room from there.

Yay, do we get to know what our mission is yet?

"We're going grocery shopping. Not even kidding. Someone forgot the milk. Also, we're out of Doritos after that party last week."
Kyle says looking down at a paper.

we're... we're what now? shopping for milk? no, its got to be a lie to make the nice guy go away.

"And we need to send six agents to do this? Really?"

"Better than having to be in group one."

"Yes. We have coupons to use. And you guys are getting an allowance of fifty dollars for your own stuff."[/color

I shake my head back and forth, staying behind Sven.

A guy wearing a speedo escorts the remaining people into the hall before he enters the room team one was sent to. There's a sound like a plasma gun from the room.

Keith stops and reaches into his pocket before pulling out a paper with what's presumably mission details.

"Well, that's introductory missions for you."

"Seriously, what the hell is going on here? We're goddamn mercenaries, why the hell are we going grocery shopping like this. You can't seriously say no one would notice a group like us. Why would we intentionally attract attention for no gain?"

"Alright. Would you like to switch with him? Or is there something else you'd prefer?"

His pupils dilate as he, with a blank face, drains the entirety of his cup.

"Basically, he is like that because my kind make our hosts want more of everything, food, water, Anything they happen to be addicted to, it's a survival thing, one in which I suffer consequences."

Corgi states as he shudders lightly from the influx of caffeine from his host.

Kyle pauses before looking at Ahrian.
"Who among us wants to hurt you? I don't, and anyone else would be put on... probation for doing so."

Waaasn't there an intro mission that went downhill because the lake they went to turned out to be infested with squidmen and the original goal was to purchase a boat?

"That was a one off thing. And we eventually got them to relocate."

I'm tearing up at this point, the emotional rollercoaster taking its toll.
