A year old is about the point at which you should think about giving it a good clean, actually. But with a laptop, I think you'd be better off taking it to a repair shop unless you feel like dealing with delicate parts, ridiculous numbers of screws and a non-zero chance of breaking something.

I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

Last time I tried to take my laptop in, they dudes wanted $200 to reinstall my Windows. They also tried to get me to tell my parents to loan me money. (I wish I told him my parents are deeeaaaad)
Would you know how much a cleaning would cost? At least an estimate?

Over here it would be free service at the pc store you bought it at, even after a year. If not, I think it should be at most somewhere around 25 euros, for the time spent.

Clearly it is sentient and rebelling against you.

Also, check the temperature of the room you generally play in. The colder it is the better heat transfer is.

I ordered it off of Newegg, unfortunately. Also, after a recent bit of Dota, I found out the 80C+ is not the danger zone. Dota kept me around 87C and I had no shut-offs. Sooo... problem solved? I don't think I have to worry about cooling for the time being.
Also, the room I play in is the coolest room in the house and it can still get fekkin' hot and stuffy. The AC has been broken for ages, too. The weather has been cooling off, fortunately.
