"Hold on.. Didn't we pass by a steam the last time we were here..? Perhaps that's the pure spring that we need to find?"

"Sharp. That may be it, unless it's a steam-breathing monster." the Highlander said without a hint of sarcasm in his voice. He meant it.

Bianca blinked a couple of times, truly wondering if the highlander meant what he said.. It seemed silly to say, but at the same time.. "Even if it was a monster, that'll be all the more reason to kill it. If it preys on the townsfolk then its our duty to take care of it."

Dahne smiled savagely in response to Bianca's statement. "It's a win-win situation." When your folklore had all kinds of heroes, demons, and half-demonic heroes, monsters able to breathe steam were not so outlandish. His family was generally fonder of the daemonic side of the lore itself - thanks in part to their tendencies - but that was a different story.

"So! Leftward we go, fine friends?"

If yes, proceed leftward to C1 with party, and look at all the things revealed with this maneuver.
"Very well. We'll need to take a good look around thisss level for thossse thingsss we need anyway."

Follow Max.
You head westward to a crossroad and poke your head around every direction.  There is a long corridor going north and south.  Some animal tracks go along it.  None in particular stand out, just a mix of paws, hooves, and such.  To your immediate north is a small room, may as well just call them rooms considering how dense the tree wall is.  The room has a scattering of trees, and the extra foliage keeps most of the light out, so it's a little bit more dim than the rest of the Labyrinth you've seen so far.  You can still see well enough though.  A number of the trees have ~1 foot hollows about 5 or 6 feet from the ground.

Shiloh pokes the hollows with his sword to check for danger, then reaches in to see if there's anything good if nothing happens to his sword. Also, to the northern room after checking.

You carefully approach the hollows and poke around with your sword.  You are met with a frantic hooting.  Inside the hollow is a little owl the size of your fist.  It's jumping around scared, probably warranted considering how you just invaded it's home while it was sleeping.  With a hoot it fluffs itself up to ridiculous proportions, practically filling the hollow of the tree with feathers.  That is rather adorable, but it does just want you to go away.  The other hollows seem to have owls as well, all hiding in the back after the noise from the first one.

((Northern room?  You mean taking the long passage north?  The owls were in the top right of C1))

Shiloh made a :\ face and petted the owl. "Sssorry for disssturbing you, little one. We'll go."

(I meant this room... but that's probably where we are, isn't it? ._.')

Try to calm down the spooked owl, give the rest of the area a quick once over, then lead the party back to the corridor on the left side of C1 and glance down each of the side passages from it, but don't go down either just yet.

"Funny." Dahne remarked, staring at the fluffed-up owl with curious eyes. He was used to the hooting of owls back home - though those owls were bigger - and he had already heard about people who trained owls and used them as sentinels during nights in the wilderness, but achieving the same result would require both time and hard work.

Check the room for valuables without further disturbing the owls. Offer a bit of appropriate food to the restless one and then if nothing of note happens, let us check the other rooms north of the long passage (B1).

Try to calm down the spooked owl, give the rest of the area a quick once over, then lead the party back to the corridor on the left side of C1 and glance down each of the side passages from it, but don't go down either just yet.
[3]You try to calm down the owl, but it is still quite scared of you.  When you try to pet it, it pecks at your hand, drawing blood.  Shiloh takes 1 damage.  You lick your finger and try to stop the bleeding, that little bird got you pretty good, for just a peck.  You tie a little cloth around it, and it's fine in no time.  [10]Searching around the room you don't find any loot, but you do find a tiny gap in the trees in the back.  Nothing so large you could fit through it, but you peer through the gap and see part of the room on the other side.  It seems like a rather large area.  In the middle is some kind of large scaled monster, no doubt.  You can't really get the angle to get a better view.

[8]Sadly you don't have any mice to offer the owl, and it probably wouldn't eat the snacks you brought with you.  For now you just leave it alone, especially after it nipped Shiloh.  You search around the room, and don't find anything until Shiloh calls you over to the East corner of the room.  He points out a hole in the wall and you take a look yourself.  You see the creature, but if only you had a better angle.  [12][Overshoot]You take your spear and jam it into the gap, wiggling it around to shove some of the small branches out of the way.  It achieves what you were trying to do and widened the gap, but you made quite a bit of noise.  The monster in there moves closer and looks back at you through the gap.  It's a large alligator like monster, colored tan, and covered with heavy scales.  It's got to be at least 10 feet tall and weight half a ton.  It walks around on it's hind legs, balancing using it's long spined tail.  You are rather happy it can't get to you, but when it roars you can't help but flinch back.  It's clearly dangerous, but not a problem for now.

The group of you explore up and down the western passage, scouting out your options.
Spoiler: Map (click to show/hide)

[7]Something seems wrong.  A rustle of leaves, a breaking of twigs, and a pair of clawmoles pop out of the trees.  You turn to face them, only to see two woodflies drop down from their perch hidden in the branches.  You ready your weapons as they charge!

The familiar flow of adrenaline came, as did the elation that he always felt when a good opportunity for combat presented itself. "Ready your weapons and look sharp!"

Attack a Clawmole!

Bianca gasped as the new threat came into play, her previously crippling fear of owls ignored as she came to the front of the lines, ready to fight. "Right! Nobody Dare fall to these things!"

Guard order, front line!

Back row, shoot the strongest available Clawmole (or a Woodfly, if all Clawmoles are dead) when my turn has been politely awaited for sufficiently long!

Shiloh shook his head and, again, banged his sword against his shield as he hissed. "Come get me, monssstersss! I'm right here!"

Front row, provoke!

((Sorry, am sick, sorry for absence x_x))
"I knew I should've done something," Cyra muttered as she readied her staff, checking around for a vantage point.
