You're not sure why, but you all began heading in the direction of a fortress.

Just as planned, you arrived without a hitch. The fortress had large, menacing, five-foot stone columns surrounding a gate, which was made out of two five-foot stone doors and is locked. There was, inexplicably, a sign on the door labelled "Closed Until Further Notice" in Common.

What did you do?

Take a running start at the weakest part of the left door and try to shoulder barge it open. Specifically hoping that the force of the thrust will break the lock so we can open the door.
