Time mage also has some offensive capabilities and buffs. Attack speed buffs. And debuffs. And preforming.

And if PM doesn't feel like it fits or like testing it then I won't join :v

I'm aware of what they can do, but they're largely support still. Also ftr, I'm not a huge fan of them for a couple of reasons, but that's not why I am unenthusiastic about having one join here.

Well then, you should state those reasons somewhere, or else I can't care about them :v

Apparently GUNIN said I could test my time mage here while I DC'd from the chat, so I ask for confirmation to PM because I'll join his game if that's true :v
I want to talk to you about it a bit more on IRC, and once I've clarified a few things, I'll speak with PM about how it fits in the story we're telling.

There's no rush.

Bleh, had been hoping to wait til I was on a real comp, but ok.
1. Three things going into lore master is silly and I'm not a fan
2. Preperforming is still really powerful, regardless of only being able to affect one person.
3. Being able to refresh yourself is stupidky OP regardless of how limited it is.
4. I don't like that a) they start with an item and other performers don't and that b) they have offensive ability and others don't.
5. I only took a quick look at time magic stuff, but I got the sense they'd be unbalanced in practice.
6. I don't see the need for yet another performing class when many GMs aren't a fan of the category because of how dradtically they can affect things.

Possible to balance by practice, then? If it makes sense to the GM, have Solymr's char act as a plot device//world warning sign and put in valid scenarios of testing/balance?

Performers need more love :/

They really don't. Performers are more of a tide turner than the introduction of the conical bullet.

I think the refreshing should be dropped completely and the character totally focused on buff/debuff. Rather than making it just an overpowered performer, let's see some cool and different ideas when it comes to magic. Maybe teleporting and terrain alteration could be a thing?

I think terrain alteration would be a pain in the ass, and teleportation is already handled by staves.

Er, how so? (I think aging mountains into hills would be cool.)

Also hey I didn't know there were teleport staffs!

What bmm said. if you want focus on buff/debuff, you have what performers can already do, plus what staff users can do. terrain changes would be a pain in the butt for gms more than players. performers are already extremely powerful, we really don't need another version.

What kind of buff/debuff stuff do performers already have? I was under the impression that all they did was give extra turns.

I'm the GM though? >_> All I'd have to do is change one square of terrain to some other square of terrain. On the technical side, it's no problem at all. Really. During the course of me changing the map as normal for movements- *click* -and it's done. Doing that is easier than moving map sprites, as a matter of fact.

Dancers and Bards have dances/instruments that they can get that can buff friendly troops and debuff enemy ones. The exact effect depends on the item in question, of course. But in general, they don't seem as useful as granting allies extra turns. So a unit type that focuses on pure buffing/debuffing might have a niche they can fill, even if that niche is rather small.

wrt terrain, i don't think permachanging would be legit, which means you'd need to constantly be switching tiles around. plus kerping track of added bonuses, etc. with debuffs, they're items that performers can use and while they're often less useful than just double turn, they aren't always. and by that logic, one could say that people would be less likely to choose a class based on that since less useful than a second turn.

The way I see it, he'd be changing one tile per spell per turn. And I already constantly switch tiles around, that's what moving you guys involves. ._.

No different than keeping track of character skills, which is far more annoying (charisma makes me siiiiiiggghhh), and something I already do. A lot.

Hey look, something that's underused. If you make it slightly more powerful than the version a performer gets, then it becomes viable, no?
