I would have picked that, but it says it only gives a bonus to fortifications, like, towers and stuff. History Gives a bonus to inspiration, which will aid in R&D for Magical machinery.

I think it's more inspiration in the "Give 'em heck" sense then "Eureka! Miniature magic monkey magnets!"

edit: I'm apparently anal enough to keep combing the eureka phrase over and over until it sounds more awesome.

That is correct.
Also, yeah, I probably could have accelerated character creation, but it will done next update. Well, in the snese where there will be no more character creation updates after that.
