my bookkeeper has an office assigned (table and chair), says 'no job' and doesn't do anything. same for the manager. i still don't have any records for my fort and no idea why. does anyone have the same problem?

Have you tried increasing the precision of the records?

Don't forget that sometimes your dwarves are just lazy bastards. Try switching them out for someone a little more dedicate?

Mine is most certainly working, maybe as said above the dwarf is a lazy fellow?

Updating stockpile records is one of the highest priority jobs.  They'd rather do that than almost anything.

If your records are not already maxed out (check it -- don't just assume -- you can go to the nobles screen, scroll down to the bookkeeper, and hit Enter to see what level of precision is currently achieved), and the office is assigned, and accessible, and the bookkeeper isn't doing something critical like Eat, Drink, Sleep or On Break, then I don't know what to say.

Is he missing both of his arms? I tried assigning a 0-armed dwarf as my bookkeeper and it didn't work out.
