Granite or secondary Gabbro.

Microline is instant dump and smash.

Chalk.

I think my reasoning is both obvious and self-explanatory.

I remember those collectible magazines that came with rock samples, I saw them and thought, how fucking boring, useless rocks.
I would like a mineral collection now.

Sphalerite.

It's magma-safe, but explodes when exposed to dragonfire or particularly high-temperature random beasties. Such win.
It does?!

Obsidian, of course

-You can use it as one of the most powerful weapons in the game (Only cave-ins can compete).
-You can make (mostly useless) swords out of it.
-Creating it involes magma and water, and thus can be very Fun.
-Alternatively, you can mine it out of the sides of a volcano, which is even better.

Sure, it actually is volcanic glass, but it's still awesome.

Gabbro. Magma-safe, abundant, may contain diamonds, ugly, next to worthless - just like dwarves!

Well except for the magma-safe and may contian diamonds bits :P

Dwarves 'may contain diamonds' in the form that they can get moods and make items that are invaluable.
Can't really argue with the magma-safe comparison.
Guess my vote goes for gabbro. Microcline is useful with its colour, but gabbro in itself is almost useless (plenty of other magma-safe stones around).
It can form layers. It may contain diamonds (unique!). It can contain olivine (-> platinum!). It's useless as a stone.

I used to hate microcline for being everywhere and kind of an eyesore.

But now I use it for floorings in hospitals and fisheries and I'm always running out of it.  :'(

Well, let's say you're going away from Earth on huge spaceship and suddenly shit goes wrong and you have Super Mutants. Social Experiments prepared them for this.
