you think 'felsite' is the dorfiest stone because the word contains 'Fels'? :-)

if so, you probably have to explain to the non german speakers.

.... or i just do it shortly: 'Fels' is german for 'rock', so 'felsite' means something like 'rockite'!
I mean how much more dorf (means badass slash stupid) can it get?  :D
You also can't get much dwarfier than a rock that is so impractical it doesn't even exist.

Hard science is like a sword, and soft science is like fear. You can use both to equally powerful results, but even if your opponent disbelieve your stabs, they will still die.

Petrified wood.
One of my dwarves made a really badass petrified wood throne.
That's probably the least dwarfy stone.

Obsidian, naturally. No fortress is complete without it.

Obviously semi-molten rock. It occurs near magma and destroys anything. It also hints at worse things to come.

Disagree - what's dwarfier than taking a pansy tree and turning that oh-so-precious plant fiber to stone? And then making a floodgate out of it. We are digging up the corpses of the elven gods and using them to make furniture.

We need a poll. My vote is split between microcline and felsite.

My favorite stone is probably Olivine, since it's the only natively green rock and it's magma safe :o

But as for the most Dwarfy, Dolomite any day.

Sphalerite.

It's magma-safe, but explodes when exposed to dragonfire or particularly high-temperature random beasties. Such win.

Bauxite. I will always treasure it, and its weird red color, for being magma safe.

Gabbro. I always build nearly all of my magma-safe mechanisms and gates out of gabbro
