"Rest sounds good. I used most of my energy fighting those goblins earlier."

The night goes on uneventfully. They wake up to the green twilight of the sky glowing and the orange glow on the ground as the sun dimly rises over the horizon.

Anderson uses Spot checks to watch out for the crystal fish so they don't sneak up on the party.

The Crystal Fish are peacefully swimming about. They're around the size of salmon, he observes.

Maintain Spot as the rest of the party does stuff.

((You don't need to do anything now, but if the fish turn aggressive or if another enemy appears I intend to keep a lookout.))

Aland retrieves a stick of decent length and pokes around in the water to see if the fish respond.

Ronnoc, who had conveniently followed everybody else down here in something of a drunken stupor the previous day, awakens with a jolt.

"Whozzat? Oh. This place."

After a quick glance around, he decides that he could use another hundred gold or so and scans the waters for clumps of shadowmeld.

"Hocus Pocus." Izalith says as she casts Detect Magic which the Shadowmeld has been already indicated to be.

Detect Magic. Search for Shadowmeld.

[13] Rannoc notes that the stuff seems to be rather difficult to find.

Izalith detects a small clump of the stuff in a dark spot of the river.

They swim away, like normal fish do. In fact it seems that these fish are normal fish, only they are covered in beautiful crystal scales that glisten in the clear water.

Grab it
It seems quite secure in the ground.

The year is 1400 AE1.
The shadowmeld has been found, and the story went on. Friends and enemies were lost and now only few remain united; but their unity remains steadfast. As they continued their adventures that raised in extravagance each instance, their reputation became known throughout the land as heroic.
But their journey isn't quite over yet. It is rumored that unknown tensions have been happening within the capital and other places as well - King Oshimar III is facing a difficult resistance from an isolated rebellious group against his benevolent rule. The Skywrath Order is occupying Pentower Lake because of mysterious demon sightings reported there. Tensions over land and ideals have escalated to border skirmishes between the nations of Braveheart and Faejur.

And here they stand at the main gate of the capital Lirad, coming to the call of His Majesty himself. Just a week ago, they received a letter by magic telling them to please come to Heartsing Keep; the letter was stamped with the King's Seal and signed by his hand.

1. AE stands for "After Exaltation." The Exaltation was the historic event where it is said that the four legendary heroes of old ascended to godhood after defeating and encasing the Three Nemeses (the evil gods) in a locked demiplane devised by Oromis, ending thousands of years of cruel rule by them.

Tirriam was recalling any knowledge she had of the king. She was a newer member to the group - she hadn't know them very long.

Aland was the least interesting. A reasonable sort, and if she was too interested in friends, he would no doubt be a good one. But he was nothing special - just a paladin of Saeladra. No interest in the why of evil, only the destruction of it. Over all, she was neutral to him.

Anderson was a disciple of the same power as hers. He was more interesting, now. Elans were quite strange, and his psionics even more so. Unfortuntely, Tirriam seemed to know more about his psionics than he did, so that was a disappointment.

Shai'ven deRiach had a power similar to a druid, the one form of magic she did not have skill in, but he was certainly no druid (and had rather poor reflexes for a ranger, beside). A curious matter, and at some point she intended to try to find out how it came about. The ability to shapeshift is rare, and she was pretty certain he was no changeling or doppleganger.

Gwynovin Eldras had an interesting twist of the brain. She believed she was a god, locked in mortal form; where she had quite gained this delusion Tirriam wasn't sure. Of course, the 'advice' she offered was annoying, as Gwynovin seemed to believe she knew better than Tirriam.

Tirriam spoke up.

"Unless we have some other task, I suggest we should be prompt and go visit the royal personage. I have no tasks I require in town."

Lore check (+5) on the King. Oh, and Architecture check +3 on the city, since we're standing around.
