Mind you the remake comes with the Gog purchase for the first game, but not the second I believe.
That's because it's not a fan remake. It's the official Sierra re-release (from 1991). I expect they'd have to give money to AGD if they tried to sell QFGII remake (if only to prevent "internet outcry").

Actually there have been cases where the fan stuff has been used officially.

The Fan fix for "The Beast Within: Gabriel Knight 2" for example... Is officially recognized by Sierra (or was at the time) and I believe it is used for the Gog version.

Space Quest is also a series that could use a few hd remakes... A lot of its earlier games are near unplayable.

SQ2, at least, had a fan-remake.  Haven't played it myself, but RPS gave it a good review:

Quote from: Richard Cobbett of RPS
Space Quest 2 VGA is an excellent remake of a deeply awful game.

[...]it does make the original far more bearable – and much, much less difficult. Most of the fiddly puzzles were down to the use of a text parser, which has now been swapped out for the icon-driven interface of later Sierra games.
[...]
The biggest upgrades to the original are obviously the new graphics, which look excellent, and a full voiceover, which is fine.

Also of note, fan-made sequels and prequels also listed in the above link, and the new Kickstarted game,
Space Quest 8

Wait, actually it's
SpaceVenture

But it is by Those Two Guys.  You know, the ones who came From Andromeda.

1 already had a good remake... 2 has had fan remakes and 3 has had one fan remake. None of them voiced of course.
....Really now? I'm pretty sure the Fan Remake for King's Quest 1 and 2 has voice acting, but I don't know about the remake of King's Quest 3, since I haven't played that one yet.

Wasn't "Birthright: Gorgon's alliance" a Sierra game? Sure it was a weird Ad&d world and the rpg dungeon cralwing parts were terribad, but the strategy, realm and court management and battles, 3X component of it were awesome and gog still doesn't carry it.

I don't really expect anything from this. Quest for Glory was part of its time in games, when adventure games were popular, they were full of humor and people who knew how to work in their medium.

That's not to say whoever might be in Sierra doesn't know their medium and genre. But they'd know today's expectations and constraints. If they remade Kings Quest or QFG, it's probably be some horribly overblown cinematic fantasy experience. What I loved about QFG is it never took itself too seriously, and it made for the most memorable moments and characters in the game. It was FUN, in addition to being an adventure. TBH, I think that's what I never liked about QFG 3. It was so very serious and straight-faced. QFG4 was kinda grim but still fun and quirky.

Anyways, whatever they make I'd judge on its own merits, because I don't think you can really recreate what made those games good. Hell, I backed Hero-U and so far I don't really see the same spark there.

Well not to mention Quest for Glory was hard... well... hard-ish (Mage was the easiest class so to speak)

As much as I appreciate Telltale games and how they almost single handedly revived point and clicks... Their games are easy as pie at best and pandering at worst.

I don't believe that. Not in that I don't think you actually disliked QFG 3... but I think your "ehhh" feelings about it stem more from the flow of the game then from its serious nature.

Though yeah the 3rd was the most serious by far... The only silly moment were the talking monkies.

But I am one of those people who don't find that strange at all.

I will say that I think the third game was pretty much MADE for the Mage... It honestly has the more interesting gameplay what with its wizard duel.

Which is why you play the first as a thief/mage/fighter and import.

I read this as "Bloodsucking Activision hopes to exploit famous name via crude sock puppet."

Maybe it'll work out anyway, but I'd find it hard to get too excited.

Seriously Seirra is SO old I don't think it has as much name recognition as you think.

If they are hoping to puppet it to make cheap cash ins... GOOD LUCK!

Fair enough, but I can't think of why else they'd do it. Maybe if they just needed another branch or studio, so they figured why not use a name they already have.

Yeah either that or they are planning on reviving a few series.

I mean Sierra has had a lot of good non-point and clicks too.

Besides I always loved the Sierra logo... along with its old theme too.

Lords of Magic 2

Arcanum 2

Red Baron 3

That's what I'd like to see.

I would like a real King's Quest 9. The KQ9 made by Phoenix Online left me really disappointed. Sure it LOOKED fine and probably plays great, but the narrator ruined it for me with obnoxious fourth-wall breaking and self-advertising in the first minutes of the game. And the performance itself isn't that great either. Immediate uninstall, it was that bad.
