Remember the IMPORTANT cageapults? This is important because the hive keep slaves. Simply take a caged prisoner to the slavers podium. Now bring 1 chain, 1 metal and 1 leather to the podium. You now have a (civ name) slave. Slaves are classed as pets and are given menial tasks like (stray elven woodcutter) slaves can be wartrained.
That might be a little bit hard to do.

didnt you say that goblins shoot nets that did that. cage-a-pult ideaa is scrapped now. replacing with paralyzing poison from stingers

Not the cages, but pets that do labor. No one in the entire modding community got that to work. (except fishing)

Beyond all of that, one question that should be answered: how many people would really use that feature? Just speaking for myself, I would rather have a non-slave unskilled laborer to have one less idler.

I had thought about a halfling/hobbit race, specialized in living above ground; then I came to MDF, and saw that the features I thought of we're covered by the dwarves (Brewery) and the kobolds (obvi). In the back of my mind, then, was the notion of a race specialized in unarmed combat: their anatomy would be such that they would rely on their wrestling/striking/biting/kicking skills to deal damage/incapacitate, with their 'weapons' basically being spurs that would utilize their unarmed skills, with a range of options covering the damage types; basically, a race that could make 'knuckle dusters' AND claws, etc.

The point is, you could do that with an insect-type race, whether they were wasps, ants, bees, buggers, Zerg, tyrannids, whatever. Combat-wise, that would be a pretty easy point of departure, modding wise.

EVERYONE! (spoken in Gary Oldman The-Professional vioce)

Seriously, that would be huge. It would allow multi-civ forts.

Maybe I'm not really understanding it, then; would it somehow be like mind control from Starcraft's Dark Archon, where you can control a worker and therefore build ALL of another race's workshop's/weapons/etc.? That would totally be awesome.

Or would it be (as I'm imagining it) a pet/'domesticated animal' that would have the physical characteristics of, say, an elf (as defined in the raws), which could then be somehow manipulated to independently perform labors? That too would be cool, but I don't know if I would use it if it meant having idlers of my 'main race' sitting around; unless, of course, there were incentives to have idlers.

It would be a civ member with a different creature id. Thats the huge difference. For all intents and purposes it would be a member of your main race.

I just now am reading the 'Hermit-mode' thread, and upon reflection I could see how such a feature could really make a big deal in such a situation; not to get off this thread's point, but your 'imaginary friend' could actually be a bear/squirrel/whatever, rather than a caste with a different sprite. So yeah, I can get on board with that, and it would fit well with the notion of a parasitic insectoid race.

I remember one of my first MWDF forts. first migrant wave: 4 dwarves and 1 "plump helmet man fisherman"

The slaves are going to be pets that have skills, but with decreased speed because they're wearing metal collars.

The slaves are formed using caged prisoner + metal bar + chain + leather + fuel
Metal bar is for a collar. Chain is for the stuff chain is used for. leather is for padding for the collars. fuel is to forge the collar
This stuff is taken to slaver's podium.

Disaster! Stupid computer. Just HAD to crash. I was about to post what raws I had.

Damnit.

I'm going to do a little bit of modding now, then i'm going to post the raws.

I've got work experience for the next 2 weeks minus weekends. So that means I'm going to have to do as much as I can now.

I hate my computer. acer aspire 5742 with i5-480 processor

Question: should it need sleep?
Question:

heres what i've got so far.

It needs a stinger
stinger needs venom that paralyzes. Stinger needs an attack.

Eg. adv mode. sees a wolf. ctrl + a (attack). a. [(whatever letter the stinger is) would read Jab with stinger]. wolf gets paralyzed. wolf is at your mercy or lack thereof.

Needs to be playable

Needs size fixes

probably needs typo fixes as well

Here is the creature. it SHOULD be able to be inserted into the raws as a wild animal ATM.

I just thought of an idea you can use instead of the slave one

how about you can bring the paralyzed animal to a hatchery and inject him with an egg. and when that egg hatches the animal transforms into another insect civ member. kind of like the magic system in dwarf mode

then you can use the civ member to do the menial tasks mentioned above

Well if yall are still going in wasp direction then I  need to study some more but ants i am good with information.
Maybe for intruders like if you have a warlock spy in masterwork instead of a warlock spy it could be a
Red Oak Clearwing moth. (http://www.wired.com/2014/05/monday-naturezen-more-moths-pretending-to-be-wasps/)

Ha, yeah, before the entity and creature file is done, lets talk about custom interaction-based invaders as a high-end enemy. ::D

If we are actually going in this direction. how about we have a japanese hornet enemy civ as well. Wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_giant_hornet they will have mephs custom sculk tag and the way they work is they first send scouts (theives)and if they leave the map it can trigger an embassey reaction (dwarf mode) to trigger a seige a month later
